Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Mudafort.
Hi Erika, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Erika Mudafort and I started in the beauty industry around 16 years ago in Vero Beach Florida. I am Puerto Rican and Lebanese, born in San Juan Puerto Rico. I decided to go into the beauty industry when I gave birth to my son and needed to be able to have a career that I love, could make a great income in a short amount of time, a career I could grow quickly, and create a schedule that aligns with having a young child. I have owned a Kerastase salon, managed multi-unit salons, and currently work with Salón Centric as a Salon Business Partner with over 100 Salón accounts to help develop and grow business, product diversity, and anything else my clients need to deliver their best each and every day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being in the industry over 15 years I had many obstacles. I was a young single mom and had to work very long hours and many days at first to build clients and provide for my little family. Also breaking into the luxury salon market was not easy as a new stylist but I was relentless in communication and drive with what I wanted at these locations, and they finally gave me a chance (maybe because they were tired of me showing up lol). I believe I’m not taking no for an answer and hustling to the door opens so yes, the challenges were many but conquered them one at a time. No and failure wasn’t an option!
