With loved ones back home often facing shortages and hardships, sending essentials and little comforts becomes more than just shipping items—it’s a way of showing love, support, and solidarity.
Starting as a small family effort, we initially shipped items for close friends and relatives. From the beginning, we faced obstacles, from navigating complex shipping logistics and regulations to dealing with economic instability and fluctuating costs that affected both our operations and our clients. There were moments of uncertainty, where ensuring reliable service amidst these hurdles felt daunting.
One of the most significant challenges, however, has been understanding and adapting to the needs of our community. Many Venezuelan families here work tirelessly, often taking on multiple jobs to support their loved ones back home. Their dedication to helping those still in Venezuela despite the distance and financial strain has always inspired us. I think that’s where my passion for service started; I liked the feeling of making a difference, even in small ways.
I was also drawn to anything that involved people. I loved hearing stories, learning about different places, and understanding what made each person unique. That sense of connection is a big part of who I am and what we do at SumiEnvios. Today, my work is all about helping people connect across distances, and it feels like a natural extension of those early interests. I get to combine my love for family, service, and community in a way that feels meaningful and true to who I’ve always been.
