Community Highlights: Meet Gerardo Serrano of The Minivan Store

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerardo Serrano. Them and their team share their story with us below:

One ordinary day, Frank Aquino saw himself picking up his children at school in a line full of minivans. This made him think about every person that buys a Minivan. After having a previous experience with his family’s business because his father used to run a dealership too many years ago, he thought about initiating his dealership store, focusing on families as clients and offering Minivans.

In 2005 The Minivan Place was created and lasted until the 2008 crush affected everyone’s wallets. In 2013 Frank talked to Juan Serrano, his college roommate who owned a passenger transport in Texas and convinced him to come to Orlando to start The Minivan Store. Together they created this new business with all their prior expertise in both business and else. This time The Minivan Store was also going to offer repair and maintenance services for its clients, along with buying and selling pre-owned vehicles, especially Minivans.

In 2015, Gerardo Serrano (Juan’s Brother) decided to quit his job and dedicate his efforts to his brother Juan and Frank’s business. His career would focus on expanding the other business lines that The Minivan Store can develop, such as the TMS Repair Center and other ideas for commercial clients.

The Minivan Store is a dealership and Repair Center that cares about families and works to change the car dealership perception. Today, the 3 of them work side-by-side, always looking to offer excellent customer service and treat their clients with dedication and great advisory skills. The most important thing for them is caring for their client’s money and dreams. They work together to forge excellent relationships with their clients without harassment, so they can be trusted as more than a place to buy or sell a car.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the struggles along the way are that pre-owned car dealerships have created a terrible image over the years. We work hard to change people’s perceptions and make them believe we are more than money interests. Trying not to harass them and always giving them the best solutions so they can find the car of their dreams or similar according to their budget. We try to find the best solutions for our client’s wallets because we understand that only some have a pile of money available to buy a car. We care about the car our clients buy, so they will be fine in the future by assuring a proper inspection and certification.
