Community Highlights: Meet Hannah Hunter of Swishh Dreams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Hunter.

Hi Hannah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Almost everything I know so far in life I’ve learned from basketball and some of my favorite and most valuable lessons come from playing with neighbors outside at the park. I grew up playing basketball north of Pittsburgh, PA so when I moved to Orlando, FL in 2013 for a screen printing/graphic design internship, I was mostly excited for year round outdoor hoops in the warmer temperatures. At my internship, I fell in love with screen printing and quickly got a job at another local print shop where I learned how to print t-shirts. I combined my passion for basketball and my new knowledge of printing to start the brand Swishh Dreams. (Two h’s on Swishh for my initials, H.H.) Originally, I started it as a website to share my basketball designs and t-shirts. Now, we sell many custom-made products and 100% of the profits go to my mission of finding and renovating all the neglected public outdoor basketball courts.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Most of my struggles so far has been raising funds for the court renovations. Right now, my projects are fully funded by online sales from swishhdreams.com and custom screen printing for local business and teams. So, it’s been a daily grind to keep printing enough tees to fund the projects. I’m always searching for more ways to raise funds so I can save more courts in the future.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Swishh Dreams mission is to find and renovate neglected public outdoor basketball courts by raising funds and coordinating with the local community. We raise funds by selling custom made products on swishhdreams.com and screen printing for local businesses and teams. We specialize in transforming run-down courts into safe places to play basketball and interact with our neighbors. Our renovations help strengthen communities by attracting more people to the park and improves safety and cleanliness.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I lived in my screen printing shop for a year and a half to save money for one of my basketball court renovations.
