Hi India, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My background is in communications and media. I ended up in Orlando after accepting an opportunity at Fox 35. I worked in the news industry for five years until it wore me out. I always had a passion for beauty, but I delayed getting started because I worked full-time in a different industry. I started doing lashes on the days I was off from work. So I never really had a day off for a few years. Fast forward to May 2021, and I officially decided to leave my media career to pursue aesthetics. I worked briefly at a wax center, which was part of my plan to launch my beauty studio by the end of 2021. I have been open for almost one year and have zero regrets! My business has been thriving, and I am so grateful.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
I marketed myself appropriately and set a budget for my launch. It was not 100% smooth, however, since I am very organized and like to plan things out in great detail. I didn’t hit too many road bumps. I anticipated what could go wrong but planned for the best. The hardest part is dealing with the occasional “bad” client. I have had a few, but I do not have too many.

I am a solo aesthetician specializing in lash extensions and full-body waxing. Those are the two services I fell in love with and love to offer. I have been doing lashes for five years and body waxing for two years. My clients always tell me that I make them feel extremely comfortable when getting any waxing service. So I pride myself on creating a welcoming ambiance for every client.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting?
Just make sure you set a plan and stick to it. Do your due diligence in researching the industry and figuring out precisely what you want.
