Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Strickland.
Hi Janet, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband and I retired from our jobs/businesses in St. Louis, Mo. and decided to move to Florida to escape the blistering cold winters. However, once we arrived in Florida and settled in, we quickly realized that we were bored and needed something to occupy our time. Having an entrepreneurial background, I started researching businesses that I might enjoy owning. Our research led us to Bruster’s Real Ice Cream. Their family oriented motto that included supporting the community, being able to give students their first job, and mentoring them, all while serving the freshest ice cream in town won us over. The rest is history.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
With every new adventure, I believe there are some challenges that comes with the territory. I felt that there wouldn’t be any slow seasons since we were selling ice cream in Florida, but we have had to learn to adjust for the down times while keeping everyone motivated. However, I think the biggest struggle has been finding creative ways to get our name out to the community with the signage limitations in Kissimmee.
We’ve been impressed with Bruster’s Real Ice Cream of Kissimmee , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bruster’s of Kissimmee is a small business specializing in making premium ice cream daily. We rotate through over 150 flavors assuring that we have something for every taste bud..
Our waffle cones are made fresh daily, and we serve a wide variety of toppings.
We offer catering services for birthday parties, weddings, and special events we can also customize ice cream cakes for special events and gatherings.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can support us by allowing us to cater their special events, purchasing fresh ice-cream from us instead of the local grocery store and by spreading the word about how wonderful the ice-cream and the service is at our locaton.
We can help schools by allowing them to have Spirit nights at our lo ation which in turn will support us.
