Hi Janiah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My crafting journey began in 2022, just a girl and her Cricut. I discovered the Cricut machine in 2021 but never knew how to use it as I did not think I was creative or crafty. Growing up, arts and crafts were never my thing. However, I wanted to change that and step outside my comfort zone. I began seeing people make custom items like shirts, cups, and wedding signs, which sparked my interest as the need for custom items grew. In 2022, I purchased a Cricut and started my crafting business. The possibilities seemed endless, but it also came with much funding, time, and effort to learn and perfect my craft before I could start selling items. Since then, with the support of family, friends, and even strangers, my business has grown daily and reached new levels I’d never thought it would get.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
This journey has been a testament to resilience and determination. It’s easy for people to see the finished products, but they need to see the countless hours of research, the endless store runs, and the frustrating mistakes. Significant challenges were learning to create specific items, sourcing quality materials, and building a clientele. But I was not deterred. With the help of social media, YouTube, and my business associates, I navigated these obstacles, becoming more robust and thriving. My business continues to flourish, a testament to the power of perseverance.

Simply Created By Jay focuses on crafting a customer’s vision into reality. I love to be able to provide custom items for anyone and any occasion, such as graduation, birthdays, weddings, etc. The craft world is constantly evolving, but my specialty items are graduation stoles, custom tumblers, and wedding signage/gifts. However, there are many other items that we offer or can make, such as custom apparel, keychains, bling shoes, and so much more! I ensure that I create every item with love and care so my customers can return for more quality items!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Feel free to reach out to anyone. The worst that could happen is no response. I would not be where I am if I didn’t ask questions and put my pride aside at times when I didn’t think other business owners would respond to me or provide insight or guidance on questions I sought answers for. What works well for me is spending time researching different platforms and, again, being bold and asking questions. I can’t say it’s a win every time. However, I am incredibly grateful to those who responded, and they are now a part of my business network.
