Today we’d like to introduce you to Javier Morales.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My love for photography started while helping a friend with her dance academy. She asked me to help her with shows and student portraits. I worked in exchange of gear. I was able to get my first camera and my Livestream setup thanks to this gig. During this time, I was working as a receptionist, and since I was sitting in an office all day. I started to gain weight, and my mental and physical health began to deteriorate really badly. One day, I decided to take photos of nature, something I called “nature walks” and having a camera at my disposal gave me the perfect excuse to do it. This is where my passion for this art started to rise. The nature walks let me experience first-hand that any art or discipline requires consistency. Day after day, walk after walk, allowed me to slowly improve my photography and my health. I started to love life again, and photography helped me get back on track and helped me to get rid of the bad habits.
After a few months, I decided to bring my camera to my job and my church and this, somehow, opened the doors to serve events, ministries and small businesses. I had the privilege to photograph almost every type of photography, from events to portraits, from sports to products, from studio to outdoors, and many more. I’m open to trying anything, but what I really like to shoot is weddings. In 2018 I shot my first wedding and immediately fell in love with the process, the way that you can tell a love story using your images, and the way you get thanked after all the craziness ends. Yes, weddings are really crazy, and I love it! I’ve done over 100 weddings and I keep having fun every single time. So far, we’re still 5 stars, something we’re doing right. Looking back, I’m really surprised with the things I’ve been able to shoot, I thank God for all that.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a business owner it is really scary when your bills come in and your job slows down. The days when you have a creative block are really frustrating. The days where you’re doubting yourself, and sometimes, you’re really hard on yourself. Make sure you push through! Is better to fail than to never try. My biggest challenge is convincing my family and friends about the dream I have, especially when the circumstances look bad when the bills are due, and you have to defend your passion. Overcoming the negative comments and the mockery about your art. Those are the hardest days, but proving them wrong is the best feeling ever. My best advice is to use that negativity and turn it into fuel for your victory.

We specialize in photography and video for all kinds of events. One of our biggest branches is Jump Weddings, a wedding photography, and videography company. Our team has over 100 weddings under our belt; we capture the true beauty of weddings and events of all styles. We strive to put couples and their guests at ease in front of the camera, allowing for raw and authentic moments to be snapped, as well as taking some of the more traditional wedding portraits.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like the fact that we’re the tourism capital of the world. We get people from all around. What I dislike is how the traffic is turning into a small hell.
