Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean Voleppe.
Hi Jean , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I moved from Belgium to the United States in 2006 and attended the University of West Florida in Pensacola. I quickly fell in love with the country and, even more importantly, I met the woman who became my wife.
Starting over wasn’t easy. I didn’t speak English when I arrived, and finding work was a challenge. But with my background in electrical and electronic systems, I built a career as an automatic door service technician, repairing and installing door systems for major companies.
After years in the corporate world, I knew I wanted something more personal, something I could build and grow. In 2022, a unique opportunity appeared: a local automatic door business owner was ready to retire. I purchased the company, and it became the turning point in my story.
Today, I’m proud to continue that legacy, and to live the American dream I once came here searching for. I also became an American citizen, which makes everything extra special.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Learning English, finding work was tough at first. Did not have any credit history, so that was also a challenge.

Unfortunately, I don’t. For us, the business was already established, so it was more a matter of rekindling relationships.
