Community Highlights: Meet Jennifer Jasmin of Furriendly Critter Sitters LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Jasmin.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve had pets my entire life, and my heart dog was with me for 15 years. During those 15 years, I only took one real vacation. Not because I didn’t want to travel, but because I was constantly worried about who was caring for my dog. I never felt fully at peace leaving him.

That experience stayed with me.

I realized there had to be other pet parents who felt the same way. People who loved their animals deeply but didn’t feel comfortable stepping away because they couldn’t find care they truly trusted. I knew I loved animals, and I’ve always had a strong desire to serve my community. So I decided to build the kind of pet care company I personally would have needed.

I started small in 2021, taking care of pets the way I would want mine cared for, with structure, communication, professionalism, and heart. In 2022, I officially launched Furriendly Critter Sitters LLC. What began as a passion quickly grew into a team-based business focused on reliability, recurring dog walks, and consistent care for busy families.

As we grew, I saw another need in our community. Seniors, veterans, and pet parents facing injury or hardship were struggling to afford pet care. That’s when I founded our nonprofit, Critter Sitter Companions INC, to help bridge that gap and keep pets with the families who love them.

Today, we’re not just a pet sitting service. We’re a structured, community-driven company with systems, trained sitters, and a mission bigger than just visits. We help people travel without guilt. We support working families. And we make sure pets are safe, loved, and cared for like they’re our own.

This business started from a place of love and anxiety over my own dog. It’s grown into leadership, impact, and building something that serves both pets and people in a meaningful way.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road.

Starting a service-based business is one thing. Learning how to lead people, manage schedules, handle client expectations, and build systems at the same time is something entirely different. In the beginning, I was the scheduler, the marketer, the sitter, the customer service department, and the problem solver all at once.

One of the biggest struggles has been growth management. When you care deeply, it’s easy to overextend yourself. I had to learn boundaries. I had to learn that I couldn’t say yes to every request if it meant burning out my team or sacrificing long-term sustainability.

There were financial pressures too. Building a team means payroll comes first, even when profit margins are tight. I’ve had to make hard decisions, restructure services, and focus heavily on recurring revenue to create stability.

Leadership has also been a personal growth journey. Managing people requires clear communication, accountability, and consistency. I’ve had to develop confidence in making tough calls and standing by them.

But every struggle forced refinement. We improved systems. We clarified policies. We strengthened our culture. And because of those challenges, we’re more stable and more intentional today.

It hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been purposeful. And I wouldn’t trade the lessons.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Furriendly Critter Sitters LLC was built from a very personal place. I spent 15 years loving my own dog and rarely traveling because I was constantly worried about who would care for him the way I would. That anxiety shaped this company. I didn’t just want to start a pet sitting service. I wanted to build the kind of care I wished I had.

We are a professional, team-based pet care company serving North Brevard, specializing in in-home pet sitting and structured, recurring dog walking. But what truly sets us apart is the balance between heart and accountability.

Every member of our team is double certified, including Pet First Aid and CPR. We are background checked, licensed, bonded, and insured because safety and trust are not optional in this industry. When someone hands us their keys, they are handing us their home and their family.

We also provide GPS-tracked visit reports with detailed notes, photos, and videos after every single visit. Our clients never have to wonder how things went. You will know if your dog did their business, if they ate or drank, how their mood was, and you will see real moments from their time with us. That level of transparency brings peace of mind that simple text updates just cannot.

We are known for consistency and structure. We are not a gig app. We operate as a team with systems, communication standards, and long-term client relationships. Many of our dog walking clients are on recurring schedules because routine matters for pets and reliability matters for families.

Another thing that sets us apart is the range of animals we care for. While many companies focus only on dogs and cats, we care for all types of animals, from farm animals to exotics. Chickens, goats, reptiles, birds, pocket pets. We believe every animal deserves knowledgeable, compassionate care. We also offer overnight stays and 24/7 live-in care for pets who thrive on constant companionship, ensuring they remain comfortable, secure, and in their normal routine even while their family is away.

Brand-wise, I am most proud that we have built something that feels both warm and professional. We lead with compassion, but we operate with standards. We care deeply, but we also document thoroughly. We love animals, but we respect the responsibility that comes with caring for them.

What I want readers to know is this: we are in the trust business. We understand the emotional weight behind leaving your pet. Our job is not just to feed or walk them. Our job is to make sure you can breathe easier while you are away, knowing they are safe, seen, and loved.

That is what Furriendly Critter Sitters stands for.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that might surprise people is that I’m naturally very quiet and introverted. Most people see the business owner, the leader, the one coordinating schedules and speaking confidently about systems and growth. But behind all of that, I’m someone who feels things deeply and spends a lot of time thinking, reflecting, and planning three steps ahead.

Another surprising thing is that this business was born out of anxiety. It wasn’t some big, fearless leap. It came from worrying about my own dog and wanting to create something that felt safer, more structured, and more trustworthy than what I experienced. In many ways, I built the company I personally needed.

I think people see the professionalism and growth, but they may not realize how much personal growth it took to get here. Leadership didn’t come naturally at first. Confidence didn’t either. It was built slowly, through hard lessons and responsibility.

At the core, I’m still just a deeply devoted pet parent who understands how heavy trust can feel. That’s what drives everything we do.
