Community Highlights: Meet Jesse Rovira of Merlion IT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Rovira.

Jesse, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career in technology more than 25 years ago, working on large-scale and mission-critical systems, including projects in partnership with IBM. Early in my professional journey, I was involved with high-availability environments, enterprise infrastructure, and systems where reliability, performance, and data integrity were non-negotiable. That experience shaped my mindset around discipline, architecture, and operational resilience.

Working with IBM and enterprise-grade platforms gave me early exposure to complex business environments and financial operations, large datasets, and systems that supported core business functions. I learned quickly that in these contexts, technology failures are not just technical issues; they are business risks. This perspective became foundational to everything I built afterward.

As my career progressed, I moved beyond pure infrastructure and development and began focusing on how systems support management and decision-making. I transitioned into designing integrated management and CRM solutions that connect sales, operations, finance, and customer communication into a single operational backbone. Rather than building isolated tools, my goal became creating platforms that organizations can rely on daily to run their businesses.

Over the past several years, I’ve led the development of CRM and management ecosystems across multiple industries, particularly for companies that require structure, traceability, and scalability. Drawing from my background in mission-critical systems, I apply the same principles – robust architecture, auditability, and consistency – to modern CRM platforms.

Today, I focus on building process-driven, modular CRM and management solutions enhanced by automation and artificial intelligence. The objective remains practical and consistent with my early experience: deliver systems that businesses can trust, scale with confidence, and use as a foundation for sustainable growth.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges throughout my journey has been aligning personal goals, academic development, and business responsibilities – especially because I chose entrepreneurship very early on instead of a traditional corporate career. Building companies while continuing to study, learn, and evolve professionally required constant trade-offs, discipline, and long-term thinking.

Choosing entrepreneurship over formal employment meant operating without many of the safety nets that structured careers often provide. There were periods where growth depended entirely on my ability to execute, adapt, and reinvest – sometimes at the expense of short-term stability. Balancing the demands of running projects, acquiring knowledge, and maintaining personal resilience was an ongoing challenge rather than a one-time decision.

Another significant layer of difficulty came from starting my career in Brazil. The economic and structural realities there added complexity to every step of the journey. High volatility, limited access to capital, bureaucratic hurdles, and infrastructure constraints forced me to become resourceful very early on. I learned to build solutions that were not only technically sound, but also resilient to economic uncertainty and operational friction.

These challenges ultimately shaped the way I approach technology and business today. They taught me to value efficiency, robustness, and adaptability over hype. Rather than slowing my progress, those struggles helped form a mindset focused on sustainable growth, practical innovation, and long-term impact – principles that continue to guide how I build CRM and management systems now.
