Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Vargas
Hi Jesse, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started in Highbridge, the Bronx, where I was born and raised. I began my career at BNP Paribas, overseeing a team of ten in the mailroom. For five years, I thrived in the fast-paced environment, but when the bank faced financial difficulties, I was laid off. With no clear path forward, I collected unemployment, unsure of my next move.
One evening, my cousin George called. “What are you doing for work?” he asked. I explained my situation, and he offered me an unexpected opportunity: to be his “shotgun.” The term puzzled me at first, but George explained it was a role in the towing industry, where I’d communicate with customers whose cars were towed from private properties. It was far from glamorous, but I needed the job—and the challenge intrigued me.
Starting as a “shotgun” wasn’t easy. The Bronx streets were bustling, the work unpredictable, and the hours long. But I quickly found my rhythm, navigating the complexities of customer interactions and property management contracts. My boss soon noticed my dedication and introduced me to accident management—handling insurance claims and guiding customers through the repair process.
This role was a turning point. I discovered a knack for problem-solving and a passion for helping people during stressful situations. Over time, I advanced from towing cars to managing accident repairs and even transporting clients to repair shops.
Inspired by my growing skills and confidence, I began to dream bigger. I wanted to build something of my own—a business that combined my expertise with my vision for the future. Five years ago, that dream became a reality when I opened IN & OUT COLLISION LLC.
Today, my shop is thriving, but it’s more than just a business. It’s a symbol of resilience, ambition, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. From the mailroom to the Bronx streets, every experience shaped the entrepreneur I am today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Today, as I look back, I realize the road to success was far from smooth. It was paved with long hours, constant learning, and moments of doubt. But those struggles were the foundation of my growth. Running my own business has been one of the most rewarding challenges of my life, and I wouldn’t trade the lessons I’ve learned for anything. From the mailroom to the Bronx streets, every step prepared me to become the entrepreneur I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about IN & OUT COLLISION LLC?
Honesty, Leadership, and Faith: The Core of My Business
As the CEO of my own company, I’ve come to realize that honesty is the foundation of success in business. Transparency with customers is not just a principle—it’s a practice I live by. In an industry where trust is everything, being upfront about every detail of a customer’s situation fosters a personal connection and builds lasting relationships.
My role goes beyond just overseeing operations. I ensure that every part ordered for a repair is accurate, that every process runs smoothly, and that every customer feels cared for. Communication is my specialty. When a customer’s vehicle has been in an accident, I take the time to break down each step of the repair process, ensuring they feel informed and at ease.
What truly sets me apart is my commitment to keeping my customers in the loop from start to finish. I pride myself on maintaining constant communication so that no one feels left in the dark. My goal is to create an experience where customers feel comfortable, respected, and confident that their vehicles are in good hands.
I’ve built my brand on three key principles: availability, helpfulness, and unwavering honesty. These qualities define my approach and reflect the natural, straightforward, and respectful business practices that have become the hallmark of my company.
Building a business from the ground up has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding journeys of my life. It requires hard work, focus, and faith. I firmly believe in putting God first, as He has guided me through every step of this journey. No matter how difficult the process may seem, staying true to yourself and your values will lead to success. With time, dedication, and punctuality, anything is possible.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck I believe in being positive and having faith in God I’m a big firm believer in God and Jesus Christ my savior and with him everything is possible.
