Today we’d like to introduce you to Jocelyn Espejo.
Hi Jocelyn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Branding by Jo with a camera in one hand and a deep desire to help women show up confidently and clearly in their businesses. What began as brand photography sessions quickly grew into something more because I realized my clients didn’t just need beautiful photos. They needed clarity, strategy, and alignment. They needed a brand that felt like them and worked just as hard as they did so they can maximize their impact.
My background in business and storytelling gave me the unique ability to bridge the gap between visuals and vision. Over the years, I’ve expanded Branding by Jo into a full-service branding agency offering not only photos and videos, but brand strategy, websites, email campaigns, and marketing support that empowers women to scale with confidence.
Today, I work with powerhouse entrepreneurs across the country who are doing amazing things but whose brands don’t quite reflect the level they’ve reached. Whether we’re rebranding a business, launching a new offer, or building a digital presence from scratch, my mission stays the same: to create bold, strategic brands that connect, convert, and maximize impact.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road! More like a winding one with a lot of lessons along the way.
Like most entrepreneurs, I started out wearing every hat. Photographer, creative director, admin, strategist, and everything in between. Building a business while raising a family and trying to stay grounded hasn’t always been easy. There were moments of burnout, comparison, battling imposter syndrome and questioning if I was really cut out for this.
And honestly, it’s still a challenge. Some days I feel like I’ve nailed it. Other days, not so much. I always joke that I’m way better at helping others with their branding and clarity than I am at doing it for myself. But that’s real life as a business owner. And we’re constantly evolving.
What’s helped me keep going is knowing that this work matters. I get to help women step into their spotlight and build brands that feel like them and give them the confidence to get out there and pursue their dreams and make their impact. That mission keeps me aligned even on the hard days. And every twist in the journey has made me a better guide for my clients because I’ve been through it (or walking through it) too.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Branding by Jo?
Branding by Jo is a boutique brand agency helping service-based business owners especially powerhouse women build bold, aligned brands that not only look good but work.
We specialize in strategic brand photography, video content (like Reels & B-roll), website design, brand strategy, and done-for-you marketing like email campaigns and social media management. What we’re known for is helping clients go beyond just having a pretty logo or polished headshots. We create brands that feel like you, connect with your audience, and support your next level of growth.
What sets us apart is the heart behind the strategy. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all templates or mimicking what’s trendy. Every client gets a thoughtful, personalized experience because your brand should reflect your story, your values, and your goals. We guide you through every step so you don’t just have a great brand you know how to use it with confidence.
What I’m most proud of is seeing our clients go from hiding behind the scenes to confidently showing up, scaling their businesses, and owning their space. That transformation is everything.
If there’s one thing I want readers to know, it’s this: Branding isn’t just how you look it’s how people feel when they experience your business. When done right, it builds trust, saves time, and opens doors. And we’re here to help you make that happen.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I actually started out as the shy kid—quiet, observant, always paying attention but rarely the first to speak up. It wasn’t until I moved in high school that I made the decision to come out of my shell. I like to say I’m an introverted extrovert now—I love connecting with people, but I definitely need my quiet recharge time too.
As the oldest sibling, I’ve always had a strong sense of responsibility and a big heart. I was the helper, the planner, the one who made sure everyone else was good. And I’ve had a camera in my hand since I was little—always taking photos of friends, family, moments—but I never saw it as a career path. I grew up thinking I’d go to college, get a good job, and climb the corporate ladder.
So I did. I got my MBA and spent years in operations management. But everything shifted when a friend asked me to photograph their brother’s wedding. That one ask sparked something in me, and one shoot led to another. Eventually, I took the leap and started building my own business—leaning into faith over fear.
Branding found me when I finally had the courage to go all in. And I love that it allows me to bring both sides of myself to the table—my business experience and my creative heart.
