Today we’d like to introduce you to JOEMY VEGA.
Hi JOEMY, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Lima, Peru, but I’ve spent most of my life in the United States. From a young age, I knew I wanted to design spaces. I’ve always been drawn to the beauty of architecture, but what truly inspired me was how interiors could evoke emotions and bring people together. I always knew I wanted to design restaurants and lounges, creating spaces that make lasting impressions.
I began my career working for incredible companies, with my last corporate role at Hard Rock, where I gained invaluable experience in hospitality interiors. Over ten years ago, I took a leap of faith and launched my own boutique studio, DV Studio, specializing in hospitality design. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with global brands and boutique clients to bring their visions to life.
Design is more than a job for me—it’s my passion and purpose. I thrive on collaboration, working with clients to craft spaces that tell their unique story. I feel incredibly grateful to do what I love every day and to contribute to the way people experience the world around them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change a thing. From the beginning, I’ve always been determined to create my own opportunities. Even early in my career, I refused to wait for things to happen—I went out and made them happen. That mindset has carried me through every phase of my journey.
When I transitioned from a corporate role to launching my own studio, I knew it wouldn’t be easy. I had to learn not just how to design but how to run a business, find clients, and build something from the ground up. At first, I thought if I just did great work, the rest would follow, but I quickly realized that success requires more than talent—it takes strategy, persistence, and the courage to keep going even when things don’t go as planned.
I don’t see challenges as setbacks—they’re moments of growth. Each one has empowered me to push harder, learn more, and stay resilient. The road hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s been worth it. I’m proud of the journey, the lessons, and the resilience that’s shaped me into the person I am today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At DV Studio, we specialize in creating hospitality experiences that go far beyond just interiors. We craft entire brands—from concept to execution. Whether it’s collaborating with large in-house teams or providing everything from scratch for smaller clients, we bring together all the elements that make a brand memorable.
Our work includes everything from designing interiors to developing music programs, uniform concepts, environmental graphics, scent branding, and beyond. We don’t just create spaces—we craft full sensory experiences that align with our clients’ goals and tell their unique story.
What sets us apart is our ability to work with both global brands and boutique businesses. Whether it’s building a standalone concept or creating franchise-ready prototypes, we thrive on helping our clients bring their vision to life in a cohesive and meaningful way.
At DV Studio “we design spaces that make you feel like you belong”.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
For me, risk-taking isn’t about gambling on the unknown; it’s about trusting my intuition and following the path I know is meant for me. People often see risk as stepping into uncertainty, but sometimes what they call risk is simply being different. Choosing to walk a path that’s uniquely your own can feel risky to others, but when you know it’s right for you, it becomes purpose-driven.
Starting DV Studio was one of the biggest risks I’ve taken—building something from the ground up on my own terms. It wasn’t easy, but it aligned with my vision and the path I knew I had to follow.
Whether in my career or personal life, I’ve learned that taking risks isn’t about fear; it’s about staying true to who you are and pursuing what’s calling you. To me, risk-taking is simply living fully, knowing every step even the uncertain ones—brings you closer to your purpose.
