Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Gonzalez.
Hi Jonathan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Jonathan Gonzalez, a physical therapist and the founder of RehabSpot Physical Therapy in Orlando, FL. My journey started with a deep love for sports and movement — I grew up playing baseball and always admired the behind-the-scenes work that helped athletes recover and get back on the field. That curiosity led me to pursue physical therapy, where I saw firsthand how transformative it can be not just for athletes, but for anyone wanting to live pain-free and move confidently.
After years of clinical experience, I realized there was a gap in how traditional therapy was delivered — rushed sessions, insurance limitations, and a lack of personalized care. I wanted to change that. That’s when I launched RehabSpot, a clinic built around one-on-one, intentional care that puts the patient first.
Now, I work with everyone from post-op seniors to youth athletes and weekend warriors, helping them recover faster, move better, and get back to doing what they love. It’s been a grind, but a fulfilling one — and I’m just getting started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road — but that’s what’s made it worth it.
One of the biggest challenges was stepping away from the traditional physical therapy model. Leaving the security of a steady paycheck and insurance-based clinics to start something on my own came with a lot of uncertainty. I had to unlearn parts of the system I was trained in and figure out how to build a business that prioritized quality care without sacrificing sustainability.
There were moments early on where I questioned if people would really understand or value what I was offering — especially in a world where people are used to quick fixes and short appointments. Educating the community, building trust, and staying consistent even when growth felt slow were major hurdles.
On top of that, wearing all the hats — marketing, scheduling, treating, managing finances — was (and still can be) overwhelming. But each obstacle has forced me to level up, get sharper, and stay connected to why I started this in the first place: to provide care that actually helps people move better and live fuller lives.
It’s still a journey, but I’ve learned to embrace the bumps in the road as part of the process.
We’ve been impressed with RehabSpot Physical Therapy , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
RehabSpot Physical Therapy is a performance-based physical therapy clinic in Orlando, FL focused on delivering high-quality, one-on-one care. We help active adults, athletes, and everyday movers recover from pain or injury and get back to doing what they love — without relying on medications, unnecessary surgeries, or cookie-cutter treatment plans.
What sets us apart is our approach. Every session is one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist — no techs, no crowded clinics, no bouncing between patients. We don’t just treat the symptoms; we look at the full picture — mobility, strength, mechanics, and lifestyle — to figure out the why behind the pain and build a plan that actually works.
We specialize in helping people stay active as they recover. Whether it’s a post-op shoulder, low back pain, or a nagging sports injury, our goal is to not just get you out of pain but to make you move better than before. We blend rehab with performance, so you can get stronger through your recovery — not after.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built in the community. RehabSpot has become known for giving people honest answers, high-level care, and results that stick. This isn’t factory-style physical therapy — it’s personal, focused, and driven by outcomes.
If there’s one thing I’d want people to know about us, it’s this: You don’t have to settle for mediocre care or feel like just another number. There’s a better way to do physical therapy — and we’re proving that every day.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories was playing basketball recreationally in my neighborhood and working out with friends. We’d spend hours outside shooting around, playing pickup games, and challenging each other — it didn’t matter if it was 90 degrees out or if we had school the next day.
We’d finish a game, then head straight to someone’s garage or a local park to lift whatever weights we could get our hands on. It wasn’t about being the best — it was about having fun and pushing each other, staying active, and having fun. That environment is really where my love for movement, training, and helping others improve first started.
