Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Schriver.
Hi Kayla, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I had been a Chiropractoc Assistant for more than 10 years and in 2023 I took the leap and put myself through massage therapy school in Lakeland, FL. As soon as I graduated and passed my state exams I started my business, and there was an incredible response from the community. Bodywork focused on injury and chronic pain is not as mainstream in the world of massage therapy. My books were filled within weeks, and it grew into to nearly a 4 month wait. My family and I moved about a year ago when my husband, Dr. Chris Schriver, accepted a job at Compton Chiropractic. When we moved to the Lady Lake area I questioned how my approach would be received, once again there has been a huge response. To the point that I’ve on-boarded other massage therapist and am opening a satellite clinic in Bushnell located in Divine Acupuncture & Wellness.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening a business is not easy for anyone. I struggled with confidence in my abilities more than anything. As time went on and more and more patients said things like “nobody has ever worked on me that way” or “I have never had relief like this before” it started to cure my imposter syndrome. Some patients even joke they feel like they get free anatomy lessens each visit because im huge in educating my patients to help them understand where the muscular dysfunction could be coming from and how to possibly resolve it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The very first thing I want people to know is that we care. There are too many practitioners out there focused on how many “bodies” they can get in the door- very quantity over quality. We do not agree with that practice and our patients know that. We listen, ask questions, and educate. We specialize in pain. We are not a spa, we do not have routines, we build your massage that day based on how youre doing when you walk in the door. We regulary create care plans and work with other local specialties (chiropractic, acupuncture, IV therapy, functional medicine) for systemic care, whole body wellness. We have 2 certified Lymph Drainage practitioners and I am a certified cupping practitioner. We offer far beyond muscle relaxing. We work on fascia, we stimulate lymphatic movement, we release adhesions, we stretch people, we improve mobility and range of motion. I personally offer intraoral treatment for TMJ, jaw tension, migraines, neck pain, ear fullness, and more. Its not something found often, especially in this area. In the lady lake office we have IV Vitamin infusions and a incredible holistic Esthetician. In Bushnell we are partnered with an awesome Acupuncturist who is certified in functional medicine, there is a salt room and infared sauna available as well. As you can see, I am never going to say “massage will fix everything” we are smart enough and humble enough to know a lot of chronic pain requires being approached from a few different body systems, not just muscles.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
We are genuine. We will give you 100% everytime and help in every way possible. We are not afraid to refer people, if needed, and are going to listen. If our approach isn’t working we will change the approach.
