Community Highlights: Meet Kiarra Cox of Locced by Ki LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiarra Cox.

Kiarra Cox

Hi Kiarra; please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I relocated from NYC back to my hometown in Orlando, FL, in the winter of 2020. After applying to numerous jobs with no luck due to Covid-19 shutting many businesses, I decided to take a leap of faith. Weeks passed, and nowhere was hiring that paid decent, so I unthinkingly started accepting clients for faux locs. I planned for it to be part-time, but it quickly and unexpectedly grew into a full-time business. I slowly developed a passion, knowing I could make others feel good about themselves, and I stuck to it.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
This journey has been a challenging road. I learn something new daily from COVID-19 taking over, catching it 3x, the clients, and recently becoming a mother. In my first year of doing hair, I struggled to balance my personal life, boundaries, and business because of how fast my clientele started to grow. Time management is something I’m still trying to master up until now, mainly with also being a mom. I also sometimes have trouble setting boundaries with my clients and allowing my business to consume too much of my time.

I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Locced by Ki LLC?
Locced by Ki LLC was founded by me, myself, Kiarra Cox. Everyone should know that I take pride in my craft and hope to be recognized nationally and maybe internationally one day. I specialize in faux locs, a type of protective style like braids, except they resemble reassembled natural locs in many different textures and sizes. I am mostly known for my distressed soft locs and super crispy parting method. That is what also sets me apart from others. I want people to know that my brand proudly caters to women and men, no matter your orientation. I believe in making others feel good about their appearance.

Are any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
There isn’t any book, app, or specific podcast that motivates me.
