Community Highlights: Meet Laquane Ramsay of Laquane Ramsay Centric Realty Service

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laquane Ramsay.

Hi Laquane, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got started in real estate at an early age. When I turned 17, I was finished with high school It gave me a year ahead of my peers to experiment with what I really wanted to do when I would have technically graduated from a typical high school. It gave me the ability to get a jumpstart on college. I went to college for marketing because I figured I could use marketing in whatever career path I chose. At the time I was working at firehouse subs dibbling and dabbling in entrepreneurship with my family and friends. During that time I was asked to be a part of a photoshoot for a boutique brokerage wanting to show youth and modern vibes in the real estate scene (shoutout to modish real estate!). During the photoshoot, the broker asked me if I was interested in getting my real estate license. Real estate seemed out of my reach, growing up I thought you needed millions to be involved in real estate so I was grateful for the opportunity. I was still 17 at the time so I worked and went to school for a few months until I turned 18 and when I did, I started real estate school at Climers. It took me 4 times to pass the real estate test! 4!! During the time I was attending my real estate exam I was gearing up to embark on another adventure. The Disney College Program. I passed my real estate exam in October of 2019 I was 18 at the time still in the Disney college program focusing on education and working at Disney. The college program was coming to an end and it was time for me to make my next move in my real estate journey. I did work for my aunties cleaning business as a side hustle since I was 16, A contract we had was Christensen financial. A mortgage firm. I went back to clean their office when I was 18 and it was like I hit a gold mine. I realized they funded loans for homes and I wanted to know more and more. I grabbed a business card and sent the manager Sara a long paragraph asking for an opportunity and even offering to work for free just so I could learn. She got back to me a few days later telling me to come in and talk so she can understand what I was looking for. I met with her and told her I had my license and I was in school for marketing. She mentioned that they actually had just posted a marketing internship paying $8 an hour. I took the opportunity and started on January 6th. I didn’t hang my real estate license with a brokerage yet, I was on the search for answers and education. I worked 3 days out the week learning there and meeting up with my friend Jaylin after to plan how we were going to scale our real estate businesses. We even took trips to New York for seminars! On March 3rd I signed with Modish real estate and right after COVID hit… That Internship turned into a full-time job with the post-closing team for Christensen financial, making $17 an hour in the office at 18 didn’t sound bad to me knowing I could work my way up in that company and make more but it just wasn’t my destiny. I eventually ended up leaving Christensen financial at the end of 2020 and going full-time in real estate with a full head of steam. I started working with Legacy Realty Brokers with my Mentor Sean Sanders. I hit the ground running getting us a for sale by owner listing in my first two weeks of working with Sean. I would have moments of doubt where I would get a part-time job while building my real estate business but like any other challenge, I overcame it. I ended up selling a few more houses in 2021 while working part-time for CVS and then I decided to make the move in 2022 to a full-time position in real estate. I finally figured out a game plan and had the utmost faith in myself to scale my business. Since 2022 started I haven’t looked back at anything besides real estate.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road was never smooth, I had moments in the beginning where I thought about just staying at Christensen financial and never looking at the MLS again. I always overcame because I knew whatever was on the other side of the doubt was what was meant for me. I had to deal with clients not finding the right home and the market change due to COVID 19.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My brand is all about Finance and strategic decisions, as a real estate agent I always have my client’s best interest in mind and I want their home to be a place for great memories and financial gain. Real estate is an investment and where I grew up, we knew nothing about investments or credit and real estate was my gateway to all of that. I want to give my clients the key to growth when they purchase a home for themselves and family. I also Specialize in rent-to-own and helping renters have that home experience as they transition to home buying. I’m the proudest brand-wise being so young and educated in real estate I can’t wait to see what my brand will look like at 25 (and even that’s still young). I want the readers to know That I offer a rent-to-own program and I also give credit and saving tips for beginners looking to purchase real estate. I also tutor agents so they can pass their exams on the first try!

What was you like growing up?
Growing up I was interested in basketball and fashion. As a kid, a way to make it out of the “Hood” was to play basketball or rap we didn’t know any other career paths unless it was a doctor (everyone’s mom wanted a doctor) I was always outgoing and asking questions because the opportunity is in every conversation. I was always interested in art and letting out your creativity in whatever craft you do.
