Today we’d like to introduce you to Lastree Lemene.
Hi Lastree, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello hello everyone! My name is Lastree, aka Las. I’ve been in Orlando for two years now, originally from Palm Beach County. I love spending time with my hubby, our fur baby girl, friends, and family. I’m an ambivert, enjoy binge-watching shows with lots of seasons, taking getaways to beach towns, and discovering new places to eat. I’m a Jesus girl through and through, and my faith is definitely my guiding force.
My professional journey has been shaped by many experiences, but my passion centers around changing people’s lives for the better. For years, I struggled to maintain order in my life, which unbeknownst to me, was affecting my mental health. I experienced bouts of depression and anxiety in my 20s that were exacerbated by a cluttered kitchen, garage, bedroom, etc. Even though my closet was color-coded and I seemingly had a “system,” I had way too much stuff, so a lot of it ended up in piles “to be tackled later” or, to be honest, on the floor.
A turning point came when I participated in a decluttering challenge in 2016. Working on my relationship with things was the start of my understanding of how clutter truly affects people. Fast forward to the pandemic, I talked to my then-boyfriend (now hubby) about how decluttering and organizing brought me peace and how I wanted to share that with others. Inspired by his encouragement, I researched a bit and decided to take the leap. Ready Set Declutter was born.
Today, as a full-time Professional Organizer at Ready Set Declutter, I specialize in helping clients, particularly those with ADHD and mental health challenges, create peaceful and functional homes without getting overwhelmed by the process. My journey has taught me that transforming your space can truly transform your life, and I’m here to help make that happen for others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a smooth road in terms of how welcoming and supportive some professional organizers were when I first started and the guidance they provided. I also was blessed with an amazing network of people who helped or bartered to help get me started. The biggest challenges came when I had to figure out the business part of it. I love people so interacting with clients and doing the work? Easy. Figuring out the backend stuff? A whole different ball game. I also hit a bump in the road when I relocated because I essentially had to start over. I have since invested greatly in setting up better systems (wink wink) for the business, and I’ve met some amazing people and finally feel like I am building a community here.
We’ve been impressed with Ready Set Declutter , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ready Set Declutter focuses on supporting people, especially those with ADHD and mental health challenges. We create peaceful and organized living spaces, without our clients getting overwhelmed.
I’d say I specialize in personalized organizing solutions that are simple yet sustainable. What sets me apart is my personal and deep understanding of how clutter affects mental health. I like to tell my clients, I understand you because I am you. I think my tailored approach to each client’s unique needs also sets me apart. Clients say I am patient, empathetic, kind, relatable, and I have the ability to create order all while making it fun and stress-free.
I’m most proud of my commitment to making a positive impact on my clients’ lives. I wholeheartedly care and aim to provide them with true relief when we declutter and organize.
Ready Set Declutter provides in home organizing sessions, virtual coaching/organizing sessions, and unpacking services. We also have free resources like organizing guides.
My goal is to make organizing accessible and manageable for everyone. I strive to create lasting change in my clients’ lives. The mission is less clutter and more peace.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I wasn’t too affected by the crisis as I started in 2021. However, I can say being able to have a virtual offering and pivot when needed is key.
