Community Highlights: Meet Lauren Muncy of Iron Horse Productions / Wilder Than The Rest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Muncy.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Lauren Muncy, I’m 28 years old, and I’m from Polk City, Florida. In 2022, my husband and I started a rodeo production company called Iron Horse Productions. We decided to start this company because my husband is a professional bull rider, and together we’ve been to more rodeos than we can count. Along the way, we’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of how these events are run.

We wanted to take the things we’ve loved—the parts that make rodeo such an amazing, family-friendly sport—and build on those. At the same time, we wanted to eliminate the things we’ve seen that don’t serve the sport, the fans, or the cowboys well. That’s how Iron Horse Productions was born. Our goal is to create top-notch rodeos that are fun, exciting, and unforgettable for everyone involved.

On top of that, we’re also working on launching an apparel company called Wilder Than The Rest (you can find us on Facebook!). It’s a brand made for people like us—outdoorsy, rodeo-loving, hard-working, blue-collar people who live life a little on the wild side. Our clothing is inspired by the lifestyle we live every day and the values we believe in.

We’re proud to call Polk City home, and we’re excited to bring something fresh to the rodeo world while building a brand that represents the people we stand beside.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—that’s for sure. Rodeo production is not an easy business to be in. There’s so much more that goes on behind the scenes than people realize, and a lot of it is completely out of your control. For example, we had a hurricane hit the weekend of one of our events, which ended up being a huge financial hit for us due to spectators not coming to the event. You can plan everything perfectly, but when Mother Nature decides to step in, there’s not much you can do about it.

There’s also a ton of stress that comes with prepping the arena, making sure every single contestant, stock contractor, and bull actually shows up (and on time), and then the big unknown of how many people are going to come through the gates to watch the event. All of that weighs heavy because when you put your heart and soul into something, you want it to succeed—not just for yourself, but for everyone involved.

Even though it’s been hard, I can honestly say it’s been worth it. We’ve learned so much along the way, and we’ve met some incredible people who’ve supported us from the start.

That said, I’m really hoping our apparel company, Wilder Than The Rest, turns out to be a little less stressful! At least with t-shirts, you don’t have to worry about them blowing away in a hurricane.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Iron Horse Productions / Wilder Than The Rest?
Our business is really built around two things we’re passionate about: rodeo and the lifestyle that comes with it.

Our main focus right now is Iron Horse Productions, our rodeo production company. We’re proud to say we host the highest-paying rodeo in the Southeastern United States, which has helped us attract some of the top cowboys in the sport. But what really sets us apart is the heart behind what we do. We aren’t just here to put on a show—we truly care about everyone involved, from the fans in the stands to the contestants in the arena. We know we wouldn’t have an event without the contestants, so we make sure they’re well taken care of and appreciated every step of the way.

One of the things we’re most proud of is our Cowboy Training event, which takes place before the rodeo. During Cowboy Training, we invite a group of local kids with special needs to come out to the arena and be cowboys and cowgirls for the day. Our team and the kids have the absolute best time together, and it’s easily one of the most rewarding things we do. It’s about more than just rodeo—it’s about creating unforgettable experiences and giving back to the community.

We’re also in the process of growing our apparel brand, Wilder Than The Rest (you can find us on Facebook!). We started this brand because we live the life—we hunt, we fish, we rodeo, we work hard, and we know there are a lot of people out there just like us who take pride in that way of life. The clothes we design represent the grit, freedom, and passion of people who are outdoorsy, rodeo-loving, and blue-collar at heart. It’s not just a brand—it’s a lifestyle, and every time someone wears our gear, they’re showing support for the life they love.

At the end of the day, we want people to know that when they come to an Iron Horse Productions event, they’re in for an action-packed, family-friendly show where everyone—no matter who they are—feels welcome. And when they wear Wilder Than The Rest, they’re not just buying a shirt—they’re supporting and honoring the same lifestyle that we live every day.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has definitely played a role in both our life and our businesses—sometimes in ways we don’t even realize until later. In rodeo production, there’s always an element of the unknown. No matter how much you plan and prepare, you can’t control everything, and sometimes things just don’t go the way you hoped. We’ve learned that timing, chance encounters, and even small moments of luck can make a big difference.

We’ve been lucky to meet some incredible people along the way who have supported us, given us opportunities, and helped us grow. That’s been true for both Iron Horse Productions and Wilder Than The Rest. What started as a simple idea—putting on the best rodeo imaginable, or creating clothes that represent the life we live—has already connected us with so many like-minded people, and we feel fortunate every time someone wears our brand and supports what it stands for, or comes to watch our show.

At the same time, I believe you have to create your own luck through hard work, dedication, and staying true to who you are. We’ve faced challenges, but we’ve never let them define us. Instead, we just keep pushing forward, and somehow, the right things seem to fall into place when we need them most.
