Community Highlights: Meet Lawrie Dudfield of Iconz Experience

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lawrie Dudfield.

Hi Lawrie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started playing soccer as a 10-year-old in the UK and was lucky enough to turn professional at the age of 16. I enjoyed a 14-year career at clubs including Leicester City (including my Premier League debut in April 2000 against Everton), Hull City and Southend United before retiring in 2010.

Upon retiring from professional soccer, I then launched my own International Soccer Business, Iconz Experience, who specialize in events including: UK Soccer Tours, Iconz Elite Talent ID Program, Tournaments, EPL Camps and Clinics.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not a smooth road for me personally. Becoming a professional soccer player in the UK was as hard a challenge I’ve faced and it wasn’t down to natural ability like most people think, it was down to pure hard work, dedication and desire.

Following my retirement from Soccer that was also difficult as I finished with no qualifications and there was no natural pathway for me. I had to do a degree at 33 and started my own business in 2015, which has become one of the biggest Soccer Tour operators worldwide with trips to the UK from the US, Australia, Asia and beyond.

As you know, we’re big fans of Iconz Experience. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize infusing the power of professional soccer with the skills of ex-professional players to maximise the experience for all of our participants and this sets us apart from other organizations. We are most proud of the quality control that we have managed to instill in the company as our brand is synonymous with excellence and our client base continues to grow year on year. The latest addition to our services has seen Iconz Elite launch and we now have over 100 soccer players (boys and girls) who we offer a practical and mentoring service to each month.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Hard work and dedication has been key to the success for both me personally and for the success of my business. A transitional skill needed in any industry.
