Community Highlights: Meet Lorvins Eugene of HEM Alliance lnc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorvins Eugene

Hi Lorvins, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began, not with a grand business plan, but with a deep-seated desire to serve. Growing up, I experienced immense hardship. Losing my mother at seven, immigrating to a foreign land, and ultimately entering the foster care system at 11 – these experiences instilled in me a profound understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals and families. I’ve known homelessness, poverty, and the devastating impact of trauma. Yet, through it all, I’ve always held onto the belief that we have the power to create a better future for ourselves and our community.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been an easy road. I’ve faced numerous setbacks – financial hardships, life-changing injuries, and the constant pressure to succeed. But my daughter, a brilliant and kind young woman, is my constant source of inspiration. Seeing her thrive reminds me of the importance of this work and the difference we can make in the lives of others.

As a new nonprofit, we are navigating the many challenges that come with building partnerships and securing the grants needed to fund our ideas for improving the lives of our residents and communities. These obstacles are real, but they are not insurmountable. We are actively working to overcome them and are always open to guidance, collaboration, or support from others who share our vision.

This journey is not just about business; it’s about fulfilling a duty, providing a service, and living out my passion. I believe that by working together with the multidisciplinary members of our child welfare community, we can build a more just and equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

We’ve been impressed with HEM Alliance lnc, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Here’s how these organizations work together:

HEM Alliance offers a range of essential services, including case management, mental health support, life skills training, and employment assistance. These services address the root causes of instability and empower individuals to achieve self-sufficiency.

2nd Mountain Homes focuses on developing and managing high-quality, affordable housing. This provides a stable foundation for individuals and families to thrive.

Pillars Group, a Central Florida Enterprise, provides building management and other commercial services to both the private and public sector.

Through its various departments, Pillars Group offers employment opportunities to youth who have successfully completed the Goodwill training program. This creates a pathway to economic independence and provides valuable job skills for young people transitioning into the workforce. By vertically integrating these organizations and their systems, we create a seamless and holistic support system. Individuals can access a comprehensive range of services under one umbrella, eliminating the fragmentation and bureaucracy that often hinders progress.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We are working hard to grow and reach as many people as we can because we know the impact of stability, opportunity, and support in changing lives. Every step we take is a step toward creating a brighter future for our residents and communities.

Your support—whether through a financial contribution, an in-kind donation, or simply volunteering your time—can make all the difference. A small act of kindness can inspire hope, and together, we can help our residents build the confidence and skills they need to thrive.

If our mission resonates with you, we would love to connect with you. Join us in creating a community where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
