Hi Mark, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was in the Air Force and 1 of my project was to bring the first Artificial Intelligence project to the Military.
My education is in Computer Engineering and Math.
I have bee a programer for over 40 years and own a software company that is now over 25 years old.
Local Business Rising is a community platform devoted to supporting small and local businesses through a structured approach that reduces risk, keeps costs low, and delivers a much greater return than traditional marketing or coaching systems. This platform was created out of a deep respect for the generations of owners who pour their lives into their businesses and the communities those businesses sustain.
The inspiration began over a decade ago when witnessing the owner of a 35-year family business discover, at retirement, that his years of dedication held no value to sell or pass on. That moment continues to drive this mission—ensuring that the hard work and legacy of local entrepreneurs are not lost but strengthened for future generations.
Along the way, we discovered a hard truth—80% of small and local businesses never make it beyond their first three years. This reality underscores the urgent need for practical, collaborative, and sustainable support in every community.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a parent, home schooling my son, having a home business, and starting a new business has it challenges as any small business owner will tell you. Developing a solution that is new to the business world and coving over 30 internet marketing techniques takes a huge amount of money and time. The marketing approach up to now was for marketing companies to sell at a high rate to the top 20% in revenue company and out spend the other 80% of small businesses. This is totally self funded so I had to raise money from my software company – and totally understand the complete customer journey in order to create a viable solution. Developing 1 piece o the customer journey was not not to work efficiently for small business.
Struggles – finding time, money, expertise, reliable resources. and of course the changing world of technology and customer buying habits. This was before so much information about AI has recently filled the marketing world.
