Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Soliman.
Hi Mark, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a colorectal surgeon here in Orlando, and from the start, I’ve been passionate about educating the next generation of surgeons. Early in my career, I turned to online courses and YouTube to share robotic surgical techniques, but those public channels never felt secure or focused enough for the specialized needs of surgeons. That’s why I co-founded Surgery Unified, and under its umbrella launched SurgeOn—a secure, surgeon-only platform built by surgeons, for surgeons. It’s not just another online community; it’s a dedicated space where we can refine our skills, teach one another, and truly unify surgery into one place.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never been a smooth road. From convincing surgeons to trust a new platform, to finding real product-market fit, we faced constant trials. Balancing our educational mission, building a true surgical community, and staying solvent all at once was tough. Each setback forced us to adapt, refine, and push harder—and that’s how we kept moving forward.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Surgery Unified?
Surgery Unified is our parent company, and under that umbrella we have SurgeOn—the private, surgeon-only platform that brings all specialties together. Through SurgeOn, we offer modules like SurgeOn Live (webinars), SurgeOn Conferences (for events big and small), SurgeOn Scribe (documenting key findings), and SurgeOn Communities, which fosters partnerships and dedicated partner communities. Beyond the app, Surgery Unified also hosts partner pages for organizations, provides live conference interviews and streams, and powers SurgeOn Academy for ongoing education. Put simply, Surgery Unified sets the stage, and SurgeOn is where surgeons actually connect, learn, and grow together.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson has been to stay open to feedback and keep evolving. Nothing is ever perfect right out of the gate, and genuinely listening to surgeons—hearing what they need and adapting to it—has been the key to building something that truly lasts.
