Community Highlights: Meet Melanie Syrell of Lash Out & Esthetics, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Syrell.

Hi Melanie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey as a lash artist, offering services out of a small space in my home while balancing a 8–5 job. Like many beauty professionals, I initially focused on mastering my craft, building clientele, and slowly growing my income. Within two years, I was fully booked and able to leave my job. Eventually, I opened my own salon, a space I built from the ground up with love, intention, and a vision to create a safe and empowering environment for both clients and other beauty professionals.

But everything shifted when I had to step into a new role in my personal life, taking care of my niece. That unexpected life change made me rethink the way I was running my business. I was working long hours and sacrificing time with family, my peace, and myself. That’s when I realized: I didn’t just want to be successful, I wanted to be present. I wanted freedom. And I wanted to help others in the industry find the same.

That’s when my passion for coaching came alive. I started mentoring other lash artists and beauty professionals behind the scenes, helping them gain clients, improve their business systems, and start profiting. It lit a fire in me. I wasn’t just helping them build businesses, I was helping them build confidence, clarity, and a lifestyle they loved.

Now, I’m fully immersed in beauty business coaching. I offer group programs, one-on-one mentorships, and in-person trainings for artists ready to grow, profit, and find peace in the process. My story is still being written, but every pivot has led me to where I am today aligned, fulfilled, and showing others how to create their own version of success.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road, but every challenge pushed me toward growth.

Before I even opened my salon, I was faced with a life-changing responsibility: I had to step in and care for my niece full time. That moment forced me to pause and reevaluate everything. I was already working long hours as a lash artist, and I knew I couldn’t keep pouring from an empty cup. That’s when I started thinking seriously about pivoting. I needed a way to continue doing what I loved, but with more flexibility, more freedom, and more intention behind how I was showing up in my business and my life.

Opening the salon was still a huge milestone but even then, I knew I wanted more than just a successful service-based business. That personal shift planted the seed for my coaching journey. It showed me the importance of building a business that supports your life not the other way around. And that’s exactly what I now help other beauty professionals do.

We’ve been impressed with Lash Out & Esthetics, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business has evolved from a service-based lash brand into a coaching and education hub for beauty professionals who want more out of their businesses and lives. I specialize in helping beauty pros especially lash artists and solo service providers build sustainable, profitable businesses with intention. Whether they’re just starting out, struggling to make consistent income, or fully booked but burnt out, I guide them through customized coaching that meets them where they are and helps them grow with clarity and confidence.

What sets my brand apart is how personal and heart-centered it is. I’ve lived every stage of the beauty business journey from working a 8–5 while lashing on the side, to being fully booked, to opening my own salon, to completely pivoting into coaching. I know the emotional and financial highs and lows, and I bring that real-world experience into everything I teach.

I’m most proud of the way my brand makes people feel. My coaching containers aren’t just about strategy they’re about helping beauty professionals see their value, build a business around the life they want, and feel supported every step of the way. I blend structure with soul and business with balance.

From one-on-one coaching to group mentorships to permanent jewelry and lash trainings, everything I offer is rooted in empowerment. I want readers to know that success in the beauty industry doesn’t have to mean burnout. You can be booked and balanced. You can grow and rest. My brand is proof and now I help others do the same.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe risk is often the doorway to transformation. It’s uncomfortable, yes but it’s also where growth happens. I wouldn’t be where I am today without taking risks that stretched me beyond what felt safe or certain.

One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was walking away from what was familiar first my 8–5 job, and later, the comfort of being a fully booked lash artist to pursue something bigger: my coaching business. At the time, I had no guarantee that it would work. I had built a successful service-based business, opened a salon, and created a loyal clientele. Pivoting into education and coaching felt like starting over in a lot of ways. But deep down, I knew I was being called to serve in a different capacity.

Opening my salon was also a major risk. It took a big financial investment, so many long nights, and a deep trust in my vision. But I wasn’t alone my husband played a huge role in supporting me through it all. Whether it was helping with the build-out, encouraging me through the hard days, or simply reminding me of my “why” when I was overwhelmed he’s been my anchor. Having someone by your side who believes in your dream just as much as you do makes taking those big leaps a little less scary.

To me, risk isn’t reckless it’s intentional. It’s asking yourself: What’s the cost of staying where I am? And if the answer is your peace, your purpose, or your potential then the real risk is not moving at all.
