Hi Melanie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After the birth of my first child, I wanted to ensure she was never in harms way. A significant concern of mine, was the impact of direct sunlight on her face during an extended car ride. Although our vehicle featured tinted windows, this addition proved inadequate in addressing the issue. So we bought side window shades and none of them were able to meet my expectations. They were either too small, failing to protect my baby from the sun, or too big, creating blind spots. Due to the lack of existing solutions, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a car window sun shade. After much brainstorming, I was able to design the perfect car window sun shade, but I didn’t want to stop there! Our 3-in-1 multi-use car shade is the sole product on the market that serves dual purposes as a nursing cover and car seat cover. This original multi-use car shade accommodates your baby’s development from infancy to toddlerhood, making it suitable for use from 0 to 6 years of age.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Creating the product was easy, but turning it into a business was a challenge. I had no prior knowledge of building a company, so I had to learn everything about entrepreneurship. This experience has been very enjoyable. We often receive positive feedback from parents who love our product. However, our challenge is educating people about our product as there is nothing like it on the market which creates initial skepticism. Nevertheless, once they try it, they are impressed and willing to make repeat purchases while referring us to their friends.
