Community Highlights: Meet Mitch Eubanks of MW Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mitch Eubanks.

Hi Mitch, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Coming from a dance background and career, I quickly learned there’s a lot of truth to the term “starving artist.” Eventually, I realized there had to be something more for me. I began exploring other creative paths, and the hair industry stood out. It gave me a way to express my creativity while also providing the freedom to shape my own future.

This industry truly allows you to create whatever kind of life and career you want, and that kind of freedom spoke to me. So, even though I was already a college graduate—much to my parents’ dismay—I decided to go back to school for hair. I started working in a salon while I was still finishing school and ended up staying there for 13 years. During that time I met my wife, Eneth, of 30 years. With her also being a stylist she has been there through the thick and thin in supporting me and our family business with her knowledge of the industry. We are committed to being the best we can be to each other for a successful life with our marriage, our three girls and the salon.

During the 13 years, I went from being an assistant to becoming a top-earning, six-figure stylist. I also had the amazing opportunity to become a national educator for a major manufacturer and a platform artist. That allowed me to blend my stage experience from dance with my new passion for hair.

When the salon owner decided to sell, I took it as my sign to move on and finally open my own salon. I quickly realized I had no idea what it meant to be a business owner—but through determination and a willingness to learn, here I am.

Now, 25 years later as a salon owner and with over 30 years in the industry, I’ve seen and experienced just about every aspect this business has to offer. I’m proud to say I now own one of the longest-standing and top salons in the Orlando area.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! One of the biggest challenges was realizing that not everyone shares the same mindset when it comes to work ethic, attitude, integrity, or accountability. I had to learn that everyone is motivated differently—and that’s not wrong, as long as you recognize and respect those differences.

After a couple of years of trying to figure things out on my own, I realized I needed help and found support through a coaching and consulting company that works specifically with the beauty industry. That was a game-changer for me. Owning a salon comes with its own unique challenges, and having guidance from people who truly understand the nuances of this world was invaluable.

Our industry naturally attracts highly creative, right-brained individuals—but running a business requires tapping into your left-brain, more logical side. That contrast can be tough to balance. For me, the turning point came when I stopped trying to manage people and started managing systems. That shift allowed my business to grow in a sustainable way.

I also involved my team in creating many of our salon’s systems and procedures, which gave them a sense of ownership. It helped them see how structure could support their creativity instead of stifling it. That collaboration created a culture where artistry and accountability could thrive together.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
MW Salon is a boutique, high-end hair salon located in Oviedo, FL. We specialize in customized hair color, modern haircuts, and luxury hair treatments designed to elevate our clients’ confidence and personal style. What sets us apart is the level of care and attention we give every single guest—from personalized consultations to the quality of the experience we create from start to finish.

We’re known for our expertise in dimensional color, gray blending, and precision cutting, but even more so for the relationships we build with our clients. At MW Salon, it’s about more than just great hair—it’s about creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued.

We take pride in staying ahead of trends and technique, but also in mentoring the next generation of stylists and building a strong, supportive team culture. We’re incredibly proud to have become one of the longest-established and most trusted salons in the Orlando area.

Our brand stands for empowerment, education, and excellence—and everything we offer reflects that. Whether you’re visiting us for a total transformation or a maintenance touch-up, you can trust that we’re committed to making your experience exceptional.

Any big plans?
For my existing business, my goal is to continue growing both in reputation and revenue. I want MW Salon to remain a leader in the industry and a place where both clients and team members feel proud to be.

I’m also expanding my impact by partnering with STX Inspire Software, a salon software company, where I’ll be working as a business coach and mentor for the beauty industry. This new role allows me to share, on a much larger platform, the systems, strategies, and lessons I’ve implemented inside my own salon over the years.

While I still work behind the chair a couple of days a week, my long-term goal is to fully transition out of that role. In order to truly serve and support my team—and continue building the business—I need to focus more on working on the business, rather than in it.

Looking ahead five years, my hope is to pass the torch and see someone carry on the legacy of MW Salon. At the same time, I plan to continue supporting other salon owners through coaching and consulting, helping them achieve success by sharing the insights and experience I’ve gained throughout my career.
