Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan McMullen
Hi Morgan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up the majority of my relatives owned businesses so I knew that one day I would be an entrepreneur as well but didn’t know exactly what I would do. My first real job after High School was a Bank Teller for Huntington in New Albany, Ohio and while I actually did enjoy the job, I disliked making cold calls to customers to entice them into buying more banking products. Ironically my next job was working for my parent’s company, Mid-Ohio Golf Car, selling golf cars in Newark, Ohio and I worked my way up in that roll taking on more and more responsibility. I also obtained a degree in Business Management during that time period which was difficult being in school full time and also working full time! My husband also worked at Mid Ohio as the service manager and both him and I took on a lot of responsibility in our rolls. When it came time for my parents to retire, we were offered the opportunity to take over the company, but the responsibility of Mid Ohio was such a large one we declined as it was our desire to slow down and start a family. During this time I had my son Hudson and my priorities changed even more. Mid Ohio was in contract to be sold and so I interviewed for a travel agency to become a travel agent. I’m a long time Disney fan and I wanted to help other people take vacations to The Most Magical Place on Earth. I ultimately decided at the time that I wanted to help my husband pursue his business idea and after Mid Ohio was sold, we started our own small business, HDM Services, doing small engine repair and automobile repair. We had our business for three years before my husband was awarded an amazing opportunity working for a wonderful family as their Boat Captain on the beautiful island of Boca Grande here in Florida. So we packed up all of our belongings, sold our house, closed our business and my whole family including my parents and my grandmother moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in June 2022. I decided to take some time off from working and enjoy my new life as a Floridian! However in early 2024 I decided that it was time to head back into the workforce and do something that I was genuinely passionate about. One of my very good friends had just recently joined an agency, Magical Park Vacations, and really enjoyed working for them and so I reached out for an interview and was brought on as an agent very shortly after!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! Starting businesses from scratch is a very difficult task and takes a lot of hard work and patience. Starting my career as a travel advisor has been challenging but so very rewarding.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Morgans Dream Travel?
I am a Travel Advisor for my company Morgan’s Dream Travel and I have a host agency, Magical Park Vacations! I specialize in Disney Destinations, Universal Resorts, Cruises like Disney Cruise Line, Virgin Voyages, Royal Caribbean, Carnival etc, and All Inclusive resorts like Sandals and Beaches! I’m incredibly proud of my work as a travel agent specializing in Disney. Disney is a challenging vacation for people to plan and I make it easy for my clients by booking not only their hotel reservations and tickets but also their dining reservations and extras like VIP Tours and I do all of this at no extra cost to the client! I truly love helping people plan their vacations and then living vicariously through them while they’re taking them! I get just as excited about their vacations as they do and when I plan for them, I treat it just like it was me going on that trip!
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is the vacation that I took to Colorado with my family when I was 14. We took our RV from Ohio and stopped in various cities on the way out and then stopped in multiple places in Colorado. My favorite part of that trip was taking a jeep trail out of Silverton and seeing all of the “ghost towns” or mining towns that had been abandoned quickly and it was like these towns were just frozen in time. I also just loved seeing the beauty of the mountains! Colorado is such a gorgeous place!
