Hi Nique, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Monique, but I go by Nique. I am a passionate fashion entrepreneur and mother who relocated from Ohio to Florida, established Nique’s Chic Selections over four years ago. My brand embodies individuality and style, offering unique and sophisticated accessories that empower women to express themselves with confidence. My journey harmonizes the demands of motherhood with my entrepreneurial ambitions, driven by my vision to cultivate a brand that genuinely resonates with ladies all over the world.
My educational background includes a high school diploma from Conneaut High School. I am also currently working to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Fashion Management and Leadership from LIM College in New York City, which so far has provided me with a solid foundation in the fashion industry. The flexibility of LIM’s online program allows me to juggle my studies while nurturing my business from its infancy. Throughout my education, I focused on key areas like trend analysis, product development, and marketing strategies, all of which equipped me to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship.
As the sole owner and manager of Niques Chic Selections, I embraced a myriad of responsibilities, from social media marketing and bookkeeping to managing shipping and merchandise. I was incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated team of loyal supporters ranging from mentors, my family and close friends who shared my vision and worked alongside me in various ways without regular salaries, which was instrumental in both those early days and in the present days. Their unwavering commitment fueled my determination to grow the business further and overcome the challenges we faced.
I have worked in the fashion industry for nine years, and during that time I have invested significant time learning best practices and honing my skills to ensure that our brand remains competitive and customer-focused. To support our business as it grows, I am actively exploring options to build a stronger production team, and I am looking for potential partners or employees who can help elevate our operations. Additionally, I am exploring different ways to reach our customers and enlighten our communities about our mission through marketing and products.

We are dedicated to offering a diverse and thoughtfully selected range of products that not only elevate our customers’ style but also empower them to celebrate their unique identities. Through our commitment to affordability and quality, we aim to create a vibrant community where everyone can embrace their individuality and express their personal flair with confidence.”
Recently, as part of our evolution, we’ve rebranded to Niques Chic Selections from Niques Accessories LLC. This new name reflects our expanding product range and our commitment to providing stylish selections that resonate with our target audience.
I’m excited about the journey ahead and look forward to continuing to innovate and grow within this dynamic industry while balancing the joys and responsibilities of motherhood.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My entrepreneurial journey and experience with Niques Chic Selections has been incredibly rewarding, but it certainly hasn’t come without its share of challenges. As a new and young mom, finding the right balance between work, family life, and managing a business has been one of my greatest struggles. Juggling the responsibilities of motherhood while pursuing my entrepreneurial dreams has demanded a great deal of determination and flexibility.
Alongside my parenting responsibilities, I faced the complexities of balancing my education, running my business, and maintaining a 9-to-5 job to support my family. This delicate balancing act often left me questioning my priorities and necessitated tough decisions about how to allocate my time and energy. Learning to differentiate between my professional needs and personal wants has been essential, albeit challenging at times.
Despite these hurdles, I take immense pride in the significant milestones we’ve achieved. Implementing a robust management and operational system has positioned Niques Chic Selections as a leading player in the fashion accessories market. Our diverse range of stylish and affordable accessories addresses the evolving needs of our consumers, allowing us to cultivate a trusted brand.
The launch of the Life & Style Blog By Nique in September 2024 marked a strategic expansion beyond our core products. It has been gratifying to address consumers’ mental and guidance needs with valuable tips and advice on fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and self-care. This initiative has fostered authentic connections with our audience and is paving the way for a planned YouTube channel launch in June 2025, which will further expand our reach.
However, our journey with blogging has seen its ups and downs. We initially launched a blog called Niques Life Guide, which was successful but ultimately didn’t align perfectly with our boutique’s mission. After careful reflection and market research, we decided to put the blog on hold to focus on marketing and our online store during the early stages of our relaunch. This time allowed us to rework the blog into a more organized and aesthetically pleasing platform that better complements the mission and goals of Niques Chic Selections.
Another major achievement came with upgrading our hosting site from Etsy to Squarespace. This transition enhanced the user experience, providing a visually appealing, easy-to-navigate, and secure platform for our customers. Delivering a seamless shopping experience is critical, and this upgrade demonstrated our commitment to customer satisfaction. While this shift came with its challenges and required us to learn about different storefront hosting policies, it ultimately empowered me to design and control our website from scratch. Now, I possess the tools and knowledge of website design, which has been invaluable for our brand.
Additionally, registering as an LLC, obtaining fictitious name registration, and achieving BBB accreditation with an A+ rating are significant accomplishments that reflect our dedication to ethical business practices and customer trust. Receiving the Global Recognition Award in August 2024 has further fueled our determination to pursue excellence within the fashion industry.
In essence, while the path has certainly had its obstacles, embracing these challenges has strengthened both my personal growth and the growth of Niques Chic Selections. I am excited about the future and look forward to continuing this journey, driven by my commitment to innovation and a passion for serving our community.
