Today we’d like to introduce you to Princess Labrousse-paul
Hi Princess, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Princess Labrousse-Paul, and my journey has been one of resilience, creativity, and transformation. During COVID, I moved to Florida with my now ex-husband and adult children to build our dream retirement home in a wildlife preserve. I poured my heart into the house, embedding Bible scriptures and positive affirmations in the studs, creating what I called the first positive affirmation house—a ‘playful luxury home’ filled with art celebrating Black women to ensure my children saw themselves represented.
Shortly after moving to Florida, a family member experienced a medical emergency, and I became their primary caretaker overnight, even before my ex-husband and I separated. This responsibility required me to leave my full-time job, and when my ex left, I found myself alone in a six-bedroom home, financially strained and searching for purpose. With my children still at home, I refused to give up and started Positive Affirmation Lifestyle with less than $100. It began with T-shirts and grew into a platform offering unique affirmation experiences at markets and venues.
Around the same time, I turned my home into a content space, inspired by a TikTok about Peerspace. This evolved into co-founding Queen Qurations, a safe space for people of color to network and collaborate, with my former business partner I met while promoting my Peerspace listing.
Before this, I owned Champion Bin Cleaning, a business that saw significant social media success with several viral videos exceeding 1 million views, including one that garnered 6.8 million views. Social media’s power to connect and inspire has always been central to my journey.
Recently, I sold my home and everything in it with a successful estate sale to start fresh. I’m embracing a rebirth phase—post-divorce, as an empty nester, and free to rediscover myself. A recent trip to the Dominican Republic, the land of my ancestors (both of my parents were born and raised in Haiti), was a profound full-circle moment, reminding me of the strength in my heritage.
Inspired by my family member’s struggles with self-image, I created a positive affirmation handwriting workbook for children, emphasizing the power of words and the biblical principle of ‘writing the vision and making it plain.’ My story is a testament to turning challenges into opportunities and using creativity to inspire and uplift others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road—these past four years have been among the hardest of my life. However, I believe God prepared me for these challenges through the trials I faced in my childhood. My mother passed away when I was 11, and my father was sentenced to life in prison when I was 8. After losing my mother, I lived with several family members until I entered foster care at 15, where I stayed until graduating high school. Just three days after graduation, I joined the military, seeking a path forward.
Despite these hardships, my father always affirmed in me that I was the smartest girl in the world, and those words stayed with me. They sparked the foundation for Positive Affirmation Lifestyle and instilled in me the power of words to shape one’s mindset. That affirmation helped me survive my childhood and believe in my ability to transform challenges into opportunities.
I consider myself an alchemist—I turn pain and trials into solutions and purpose. Whether it’s making a joke about turning lemons into a $75 lemon pie or taking difficult moments and finding the blessings within them, I’ve learned that everything in life happens for me, not to me. This perspective has been critical to my growth.
While I didn’t always process my emotions in the healthiest ways, I’ve learned from my mistakes and developed a strong sense of emotional intelligence. Life’s challenges have become lessons in the school of life, and I feel more prepared and resilient because of them.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Positive Affirmation Lifestyle?
My business, Positive Affirmation Lifestyle, is more than just a brand—it’s a movement and a lifestyle rooted in resilience, creativity, and purpose. It started with a simple idea and less than $100: using T-shirts to spread powerful, uplifting affirmations. Today, Positive Affirmation Lifestyle has grown to include not just apparel but also experiences designed to inspire and uplift. From vending at markets to hosting affirmational experiences at venues, we create spaces and products that remind people of their inherent worth and potential.
What sets Positive Affirmation Lifestyle apart is its deeply personal origin and innovative approach. I created the first Positive Affirmation Home, where I embedded Bible scriptures and affirmations into the studs of our walls, ensuring that positivity was built into the very foundation of the space. That home became a living symbol of the brand’s mission—to empower people through the power of words and affirmations. It was also a hub for creativity and collaboration, where I hosted events and content creation sessions that helped others thrive.
What I’m most proud of is how the brand has resonated with so many people. Positive Affirmation Lifestyle isn’t just about selling a product; it’s about creating a sense of community and helping others see the power they hold within themselves. Whether it’s a T-shirt with an affirming message or an experience that leaves people feeling empowered, everything we do is rooted in the belief that words matter, and positivity can transform lives.
I want readers to know that Positive Affirmation Lifestyle is here to inspire and support them. Whether you’re looking for a product that reminds you of your worth or an experience that helps you grow, we are committed to spreading positivity and helping you live a life full of affirmation, purpose, and joy.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve been blessed with several angels over the last four years who have shifted the trajectory of my journey in profound ways. The first person who comes to mind is my close friend and ‘soul sister,’ Nicole Perpillant. I met her at my first networking event after separating from my spouse, and she has been an angel in my life ever since. Nicole instantly became a mentor and coach, offering me a job and sharing her nurturing perspective and sound advice. She’s a master of all trades and even served as the realtor who helped me sell my home. Her unwavering advocacy and support have been invaluable, and I will treasure her forever.
This might sound unconventional, but I also found solace and guidance in nature while living in a wildlife preserve. I developed a deep connection with two cranes I named Peter and Sarah, a lizard I called Larry, and a very special houseplant named Diana Ross. Diana Ross was the first houseplant I didn’t kill, and she grew so big and beautiful that I repotted her to the music of her namesake. Her resilience and beauty became symbolic of my journey, and even her trunk has a literal face, reminding me that life often speaks to us in unexpected ways.
These connections—both human and natural—have grounded and inspired me, giving me the strength to persevere and find purpose in the challenges I’ve faced.
