Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Cuervo.
Hi Sara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am the owner and founder of Superior Contouring Medical Aesthetics. I am Cuban American, born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida. At the age of 18, I was raising a newborn, working, and going to college. Once I graduated, I dived into the medical field. I started working in Oncology/ Hematology with an amazing doctor. I was hired as a medical assistant, administering chemotherapy moved up to medical billing, medical administration. I did this for 15 years. Shortly after, I started working in Dermatology with two brilliant Doctors. I was with them for approximately 13 years. After 28 years of working for the best doctors, I had to start looking for work except that I was not going to find Employers like the ones I mentioned. I went through three tough years of job-hopping (something I was not used to). I felt hopeless and even thought about changing careers. Which was heart-wrenching because all I knew and loved was to provide care and compassion to people. I love to make people feel good and look good. That is until I met the extraordinary Dr. Gonzalo Mosquera a.k.a Dr. Colombia. He is my associate and the Medical Director for Superior Contouring Medical Aesthetics. He believed in me and allowed me to continue doing what I truly love. We provide many different procedures, but Liposculpting is his forte. We provide aesthetic medicine in a private practice and all of our patients are treated with top-of-the-line medical care. All of our patients are treated as V.I.P. My road to get here hasn’t been easy but it was surely worth it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was not easy, at the age of 18 working in the medical field most people didn’t respect my knowledge, didn’t acknowledge my hard work and dedication. However, it did not stop me, in fact, it made me want to learn more do more and I told myself I would never be that way to anyone that is trying to be a better person and have a better life. Even in my early forties, I was accused by a doctor that I was too confident, I thanked her, her reply was “this is not a compliment”. I still continued to be better than I was yesterday. No matter how many times I felt like I was not enough, I would remind myself how far I came and my greatest strength in knowing my worth was that I raised an amazing, smart, loving, and strong man and I did it at a young age of 18.
As you know, we’re big fans of Superior Contouring Medical Aesthetics. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a private medical practice that performs local anesthesia Liposculting. We do one surgery a day as a pose to other facilities that have multiple surgeries booked on the same day. We do this because quality is better than quantity. When the patients’ surgical date arrives, they are the V.I.P. of the day. We pamper our patients and there is no rushing the surgery because it is all about that patient and only that patient. We are proud to say the time is not an issue because we are not rushing to get to the next patient. We have a lot of fun during surgery, the patient sees everything that is going on, we talk, play music, and of course, I love to dance so they see me dance while working. I am pleased to say that all of our patients come in saying how good it feels when they walk into our office and leave saying what a great experience it was. For me that is priceless.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Making people feel good, look good. After their procedure, most if not all change their lifestyle. This makes me happy because it benefits them mentally, emotionally, and physically.
