Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Murray.
Sara, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist and a Board Certified Renal (Kidney) Nutrition Specialist with a deep passion for helping people feel empowered around food, especially those navigating chronic health conditions. My journey into nutrition began with a simple (yet powerful) idea: that something as fundamental as food could have a transformative impact on health.
Originally from north Florida, I now live in central Florida with my husband, sons, and dog. I earned my degree in Environmental Studies from Florida State University before pursuing my Nutrition degree at the University of North Florida, graduating summa cum laude. I completed my dietetic internship at the Mayo Clinic and now runs my own private practice in Mount Dora, Florida.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Initially, I had no idea that someone could even make a career in nutrition. I originally went to school at FSU for Biomedical Engineering, after realizing that wasn’t the right path for me, I began the search for a better career path for me. I ended up graduating from FSU with a degree in Environmental Studies and minors in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Hospitality Management (if that tells you anything about how lost I was at the time…). I went back home to Jacksonville and checked out the colleges at the University of North Florida. I was so fortunate to come across the Nutrition program and didn’t look back! I finally found something that I was passionate about and had a natural knack for. I graduated with highest honors and was admitted into the prestigious internship with Mayo Clinic. Though I had some initial struggles to find this career, I have thoroughly enjoyed the career that I have built since then.
We’ve been impressed with Nutrition Sara LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have a Nutrition Private Practice based out of Mount Dora. I see individuals through telehealth. I am double-Board Certified as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a Renal Nutrition Specialist. I also work with many clients with Eating Disorders to help them improve their relationship with food.
With a blend of clinical expertise and compassionate coaching, I continue to support individuals on their journey to better health through realistic, sustainable nutrition and lifestyle strategies.
I am able to see clients with all major health insurances, with self-pay options also available.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
In my work as a dietitian, I have found that while many people understand the basics of nutrition, putting that knowledge into action can be difficult. My approach is grounded in helping clients overcome obstacles and reshape habits to build healthier, more balanced relationships with food. I promote the idea that eating should be enjoyable and that all foods can have a place in a healthy lifestyle.
