Hi Sebastien, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Our journey began with an unexpected twist when we won the green card lottery. It was an incredible opportunity for our family to embark on a new adventure in the United States. We initially settled in Miami, a vibrant and lively city, but soon decided to look for a more peaceful, family-oriented environment.
That’s when we discovered Celebration, a charming town near Orlando, created by Disney. We immediately fell in love with its unique atmosphere, blending nature and carefully designed architecture. It felt like the perfect place for our family.
On the professional side, I launched CM Sebastien Giorgetti LLC, a company specializing in graphic design, social media, and marketing. My goal is to help businesses, particularly French ones, establish themselves and thrive in Florida through effective communication strategies.
Meanwhile, my wife is passionately working on opening a Franco-American school. She is currently in the process of finding the right location to create a unique educational environment that blends French values with the American context, right here near Orlando.
Our kids, still young, are thriving in Celebration. They attend a local school where they are growing and learning in a nurturing environment.
As a family, we are also huge Disney fans, which makes living near the parks even more magical. This whole experience has been an incredible adventure filled with challenges and wonderful surprises, and we’re excited about this new chapter in our lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like any expatriation, we faced several challenges along the way. The first was leaving our comfort zone in France, our family, and adapting to a completely different culture and lifestyle. While Miami was vibrant, it also brought its own set of challenges, especially in terms of adjusting to the pace of life and helping our kids settle in.
When we decided to move to Celebration, we had to start all over again—finding a new home, enrolling the kids in a new school, and rebuilding our social and professional networks. For my business, entering a new market with different rules and practices was not easy.
For my wife, the journey of setting up a Franco-American school has been quite a challenge. From dealing with administrative hurdles to finding the right location and creating a suitable curriculum, there have been many obstacles along the way.
However, one of the most rewarding aspects of our move has been our active involvement in the community. Our son plays in Celebration’s Little League baseball team, which has been a huge plus for us. Through this, we’ve had the chance to connect with amazing families who have warmly welcomed us into their lives. These connections have greatly helped us integrate and feel at home here.
Despite the struggles, each challenge has been an opportunity to learn and grow. We are proud of how far we’ve come and grateful for the incredible experiences this journey has brought us.
