Community Highlights: Meet Sheena Merand

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheena Merand.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Sheena Merand. I was born in Orlando Florida but grew up in Canada ma capital which is Ottawa, I didn’t have the easiest lifestyle growing up but I would call it a journey I could not chose to fail at the age of 16 I was on my own and that experience made me who I was not having help struggling to afford food and struggling to even find a place to eat while trying to finish school. But I overcame every obstacle thrown at me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Me and my family had issues at the age of 16. I was sent out the house over an argument with my dad it was a few days before my birthday which is December 22. I was told I was not able to enter on my birthday or even on Christmas. I had to either spend holidays alone or with friends and their families working a full-time job at fast food chain taking a bus an hour away just to be able to afford to eat, my rent, even a prom dress was a type of discipline I’m grateful to say I’ve had. I had to do things out of my morals to be able to afford to even have a roof over my head doing this at such a young age was very traumatic

We’ve been impressed with Modelling, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The thing that sets me away from Others is that I’m just not focused on one thing. I grow in all aspects I put my mind to such as e-commerce; being able to learn the value of dropshipping and making money in your sleep is truly a blessing. I’m an up-and-coming model who’s has a lot of recognition but am still dealing with my confidence level I’m trying to aspire in everything I put my mind to. I’m deciding to open up a skincare line that show cases all-natural products that are safe for the skin, affordable, and black-owned.

How do you define success?
To define success is hard because there different versions of it some may see it as being filthy rich but I see it as having a vision and fulfilling it so it becomes a reality, being your own boss having the ability to be financially free without worry being successful is what you define but my version is being a strong young entrepreneur who is financially free to be able to create and pick the lifestyle I want and I deserve
