Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheri Johnson.
Hi Sheri, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into Functional Nutrition began very personally – with my daughter, Jordan. When Jordan was seven, we sat in a pediatrician’s office and heard a list of labels no parent wants to hear: ADHD, visual and auditory processing issues and sensory integration challenges.
We suspected ADHD, but this went deeper. The only option we were given was medication which we didn’t want to resort to.
We tried different options and got help for Jordan with the visual and auditory issues. But she still was not able to fully focus, stay seated in school and her grades were still low. She was frustrated and so were we as Jordan was very intelligent.
In third grade we reluctantly put her on medication. We called it “the little blue pill.”
At first, it seemed to help. Her focus was better and she started excelling in school. But when she reached middle school, Jordan told me she didn’t want to take it anymore because it made her feel bad.
Deep down, I knew there had to be a better way.
That’s when I met a holistic practitioner who said something that changed everything:
“Jordan isn’t deficient in Strattera – and she never has been.”
Those words opened my eyes. I began to look at health through a completely different lens. I realized our bodies aren’t broken—they’re designed to heal when given the right support.
Jordan was slowly weaned off the medication. At the same time, I started changing our diet to real, whole foods and cutting out processed food and sugar. We weren’t perfect and it definitely wasn’t easy. My children were 11 and 13. But the results were undeniable.
The brain fog lifted. Our energy increased. Our moods stabilized. Cravings disappeared. We slept better.
And Jordan? She went from struggling in 2nd grade to graduating from Florida State University with both her undergraduate and master’s degrees—on the Dean’s List every semester – all without that little blue pill.
That experience changed the entire trajectory of my life. I left my career as a software developer and became a certified Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner so I could help others discover what I had learned firsthand: that the body is self-healing when we give it what it truly needs – real food, balanced lifestyle and faith in the process.
Today, through Empowered Health Coaching, I help others uncover the root causes of their health challenges and guide them toward lasting vitality – naturally.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road – but every challenge became part of my purpose.
In the beginning, the hardest part was going against the grain. When you choose a holistic approach, not everyone understands or supports it. Friends, teachers, even some family thought we were taking unnecessary risks by taking Jordan off medication and focusing on food and lifestyle. I had moments of doubt too – I was a busy mom working full time as a software developer, trying to figure out how to cook real food from scratch, read labels and find trustworthy guidance long before Google and social media made it easy. Our journey started in 2005, over 20 years ago.
There were times I felt overwhelmed, exhausted and unsure if what we were doing would even work. But little by little, the results spoke for themselves. Seeing Jordan thrive kept me going.
Later, as I transitioned into Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Consulting professionally, there were new challenges – starting a business, finding my voice and building trust in a world that often wants quick fixes. But I’ve learned that real healing takes time, and people are hungry for truth and hope.
The struggles refined me. They taught me persistence, compassion and faith. And now I get to walk alongside others who are where I once was – helping them find confidence, clarity and the courage to trust their body’s ability to heal.
We’ve been impressed with Empowered Health Coaching, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
“I help people cut through the confusion and confidently take their first step toward better health with personalized holistic nutrition that actually works.”
Empowered Health Coaching was born out of my personal journey and a deep desire to help others feel like themselves again. As a certified Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner, I specialize in helping people uncover the root causes of their health challenges – whether it’s fatigue, hormone imbalance, digestive issues or simply feeling “off” and not knowing why.
My approach is highly personalized. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all plans or quick fixes. I take time to understand each client’s unique story – what’s happening in their body, their lifestyle, their stress load, their environment – and together we create a realistic, step-by-step plan to support healing.
What sets Empowered Health Coaching apart is that I meet clients where they are. It’s not about perfection – it’s about progress, grace and small, consistent changes that lead to lasting vitality. I also help clients connect the dots between their symptoms and the deeper imbalances that often get overlooked in conventional care.
I’m most proud that my work has helped my clients reclaim their energy, clarity and confidence – many after years of frustration and dead ends. Seeing that transformation never gets old.
For anyone wondering where to start, I offer a free 30-minute strategy call. It’s a chance to get clarity on what’s really going on in your body, understand your next best steps and feel confident in moving toward lasting health.
What I want readers to know is this: your body was designed to heal. When you give it what it truly needs – real food, rest, balance and care – your body responds beautifully. My role is to guide, educate and empower you to make that healing possible.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I’m a native Floridian born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. I love the weather, the many lakes, rivers and wildlife that can be found near Orlando. I like the Orlando area but wish it was closer to the beach.
