Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven and Nicole Cole.
Steven and Nicole, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We have always had a passion for storytelling through art. As a teenager, I discovered a passion to create mini-films using my phone and share them on YouTube. All the while, my wife (Nicole Cole) used to use her dad’s camera and make movies with her younger brother and barbie dolls. Haha, with all that we created, we still could’ve never imagined that we would create a production company together. It was interesting, when my wife and I first got married, she had a photography and videography company that she founded in high school. Then she also continued freelance teaching for dance and acting in shows throughout the week. I, at the time, had just enlisted into the military and experienced a serious back injury during basic training that sent me home jobless and wounded.
At that time, I actually had no idea that I could create a successful business with media arts. However, one day, my wife looked back through all the images I took and edited of her simply on my phone. She said, “These pictures look amazing!” So, as time went on, we began to discuss ideas of actually working together. Finally, after the birth of our twins, we decided to join forces to create what is now our production company, Works of Wonder Studios. We have now been in business for over three years. We have had the pleasure of working on some amazing projects. From weddings to web series, the journey has been nothing short of amazing! What started off as just simply shooting on the phone for fun has now become a full-service media marketing and production company, providing media production for clientele around the world!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe our most challenging moment arrived during the height of the pandemic (as it did for most people). Our business was 90% events and many of which with large crowds. The newly placed restriction and ravaging virus caused many bookings to be cancelled. Eventually, we lost our home. We also lost our equipment, but we did not lose our hope! The greatest thing we held on to was our faith and trust that in due time, things would get better. During our time in quarantine, we revamped our production division. It is now geared towards providing services and classes to increase the brand identity and social media presence of businesses and entrepreneurs globally. We have had the pleasure of being the conduits of hope as we have aided other business owners as they transitioned to digital spaces in this new virtual age.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I definitely believe social media / the internet will play a major role in film production and photography in the next 5-10 years.
