Community Highlights: Meet Sylvia Estrada of OfferUp Investments/ Color Plants That Heal: Coloring Book

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvia Estrada.

Hi Sylvia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Sylvia. My story begins with a journey I never expected to take, surviving cancer not once, but twice. Those experiences reshaped my life and deepened my faith in ways I couldn’t have imagined. As a woman of Puerto Rican descent with deep Native ancestral roots, I carry a rich cultural heritage that influences my passion for natural healing and holistic wellness.

When I walked through cancer, I turned to prayer, resilience, and the healing plants God placed in creation. That holistic approach became a turning point that not only helped me overcome illness but also inspired me to become a Master Herbalist and an advocate for natural wellness. Out of that journey came my coloring book, Color Plants That Heal. A blend of botanical insight, creativity, and healing intended to help others experience peace and restoration.

Before all of this, I worked in interior design and became a successful investor, with both careers that taught me how to build, create, and trust my vision. Today, I get to weave all of those parts of myself together as an artist, author, and teacher. I’m currently writing my memoir to share my healing story more deeply and creating more publications and resources about herbal medicine and holistic health. And now, one of my newest ventures is The Wildflower House, an independent living home designed to bring safety, dignity, peace, and community to those who need it. It’s another branch of the calling God has placed on my life, to nurture, to uplift, and to create spaces that support healing and wholeness. I’m grateful for every opportunity to help someone else find hope and healing in their own journey.

Most importantly, I’m a wife, a mother of four, and a grandmother of three. My faith, my family, and my garden keep me grounded. My garden, especially, has become a living testament to resilience and the healing power of nature. Everything I do now comes from a desire to inspire and educate others and to show that healing is possible, that creation is full of God’s medicine, and that no matter what we walk through, faith can lead us into purpose.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. The battle with cancer was one of the hardest seasons of my life; physically exhausting, emotionally overwhelming, and spiritually testing. I lost my left lung, my fifth rib, and the lining of my heart had to be replaced with mesh. Recovery was long and grueling, taking about a year and involving continuous stem cell treatments. There were days I felt weak, scared, and unsure if I could keep going.

Through it all, God spoke to my heart and encouraged me to pray and not just for myself, but for those around me. Even in my pain, I felt called to lift others up in prayer. That focus on faith and purpose became a lifeline. It reminded me that I wasn’t walking this journey alone, and that even in the darkest valleys, God is working for our good.

Beyond the physical and emotional trials, I also had to step into a new life path transitioning from my career in interior design and investing into holistic healing and herbal medicine. Each obstacle, each setback, and each moment of doubt became an opportunity to trust God more deeply. And now, looking back, I see how every struggle shaped my calling: to inspire, to teach, and to remind others that no matter the storms we face, Jesus is faithful, healing is possible, and hope can rise from even the deepest pain.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about OfferUp Investments/ Color Plants That Heal: Coloring Book?
I have been blessed to build a diverse portfolio of businesses and projects that all stem from my passions, faith, and desire to create value and healing for others. Through OfferUp Investments, my husband and I work together in real estate investing, connecting opportunities, managing projects, and helping others grow their wealth strategically. My background in interior design allows me to bring creativity, vision, and attention to detail to every project, transforming spaces in ways that are both functional and beautiful.

One of my most personal and faith-driven ventures is my coloring book, Color Plants That Heal, which combines botanical education, creativity, and mindfulness. It reflects my journey of holistic healing and my desire to help others experience peace and restoration in a hands-on, inspiring way. I also conduct educational workshops and cancer speaking engagements, sharing knowledge about plants that heal and empowering others with practical, faith-centered wellness tools.

Most recently, I have launched The Wildflower House, an independent living home focused on providing safety, dignity, and community for those who need supportive housing. This project reflects another branch of my calling: to create spaces that nurture the body, mind, and spirit, and to serve others in a meaningful, Christ-centered way.

What sets my brand apart is that everything I do is rooted in purpose, creativity, and faith. Each of my projects is not just a business it’s an opportunity to educate, inspire, and encourage others to live fully, with hope, healing, and intentionality. I am proud that my work bridges practical solutions, creativity, and holistic wellness, while reflecting my commitment to integrity and God’s guidance.

I want readers and clients to know that my offerings are designed to make a real impact, whether it’s creating beauty in a home, guiding someone through natural healing, sharing knowledge in workshops and speaking engagements, or providing a safe and uplifting community through The Wildflower House. At the heart of my brand is a desire to help others thrive spiritually, emotionally, and physically, all while honoring the gifts God has given me.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Yes, there are several resources that guide me spiritually, fuel my creativity, and help me live out my purpose every day. One book I lean into often is Spirit of Fire by Tamryn Klintworth. Her teaching on partnering with the Holy Spirit deeply resonates with me. She encourages believers to walk boldly in God’s power and calling, not settling for spiritual complacency. That message is something I try to live into through every part of my life. Also, I draw inspiration from several trusted resources that guide my approach to holistic healing. Two key books are The Herbal Apothecary by JJ Pursell and Medical Herbalism: The Science and Practice of Herbal Medicine. These works provide deep, practical knowledge on medicinal plants and herbal remedies.

In addition to that, my daily devotional each morning is a non-negotiable. It centers me, aligns my heart with God’s purpose, and prepares me for whatever lies ahead—especially in my creative and healing work.

My garden is another essential resource. Walking through it, tending to the plants God has given me, praying, reflecting—it becomes a living sanctuary where I connect with the Creator, draw inspiration, and listen. There, I’m reminded that every bloom, every leaf, and even the healing plants are gifts from Him, and they help me reflect His love to others.

Ultimately, I believe the mission He has given me is to inspire, ignite, and empower those around me: to encourage people to push forward in their faith, to trust God’s provision, and to embrace the healing and hope that come through His Spirit. These practices reading, devotion, and gardening are the daily rhythms that keep me grounded and walking in purpose.
