Hi Tamara, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is a lot!
Just like everyone else, I’ve been shaped by so many experiences that brought me to where I am today.
I’m originally from the Crimean Peninsula—so yes, you can thank that for my accent! I moved to the U.S. in 1998, and that’s when a whole new chapter of my life began.
Photography pretty much fell into my lap around 2007, and it quickly turned into a deep passion. From the beginning, I knew I was drawn to transforming women. Every woman is beautiful. That’s not just a cliché or some overused phrase—I truly believe it. Sometimes it’s just about finding the right way to reveal her beauty. And we have that magic!
Now, so many years later, I can honestly say my dream has come true. I have a gorgeous studio in Oviedo, where we mostly photograph women (yes, we photograph men too—but mostly for headshots, and they love the experience too). Every single client leaves loving themselves more than when they first walked through our studio doors.
We have that special kind of magic—the kind that helps people see how truly beautiful they are.
A lot of our clients cry during their ordering appointment when they see themselves through our lens. They can’t believe it’s really them.
No, you don’t need to be “photogenic.”
You just need to be you. We will take care of the rest!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’m sure I’ve had my fair share of challenges—thanks to my selective memory, I just don’t remember them all! 😄
Being a woman, an immigrant, and—most of all—a business owner is a challenge in itself, but I carry that with pride. I truly love my life, I love where I am now, and I love that I’ve built a business that helps people see their own beauty.
I’m surrounded by an amazing team—all women—and together, we get to touch our clients’ lives in the most beautiful way.
We’ve been impressed with Tamara Knight Photography, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re in the business of portrait photography, and 99% of our clientele are women. (Guys call and book too—mostly for headshots.)
Don’t get me wrong—we’ve had plenty of men in the studio being photographed, but most of them were convinced (or bribed 😄) to be there by the women in their lives. The good news? When they leave, they usually say, “I could do that again. That wasn’t bad!” Which, let’s be honest, really means: That was awesome!
We specialize in beauty and boudoir portraits, couples sessions, family portraits, high school senior sessions, and headshots. We also run a very special ongoing project called 40 Over 40, which has been going strong for a few years now. It’s one of our most popular experiences—celebrating women over 40, their beauty, their wisdom, their achievements, and their stories. If you check out our reviews (over 340 on Google!), you’ll see that most of our clients can’t stop talking about how comfortable our team makes them feel—and how much they love the experience.
