Community Highlights: Meet Tracy Foust of Faith Hope Love Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Foust.

Hi Tracy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Before we had children, I was a high school teacher while getting my graduate degree in Psychology and Counseling. During this time, I got certified to teach Group Exercise classes to supplement my income. I worked at a few gyms teaching classes and realized how much I enjoyed it. I love teaching and coaching especially when it comes to someone’s fitness journey. Eventually, I passed my personal training exam and became certified as well. Over the years, I found myself wanting to try different forms of fitness and learn more about how the body works; I was constantly earning more certifications in other areas. For many years I worked at a local gym until the pandemic hit.

I have a 14 and a ten years old and my daughter is high risk so I was not willing to go back to the gym setting and I was let go. I really was devastated because the members there truly were a second family to me. While our world shut down in those few weeks I, with the support of my family and friends, decided to open my own business doing what I love. It was definitely a difficult time to start a business and I was quite scared, but it was the best decision. There were days I was pretty beat up with calling insurance, trying to buy weights and gear that were completely sold out due to the pandemic and trying to learn how to market myself. One day when I was hustling to make it happen, I thought of one of my favorite sayings and knew I had the name for the business. I always say if you have Faith, Hope and Love things will work out. I got a tattoo at age 42 of an anchor, a cross and a heart to remind me of this and I knew I had a logo. So, Faith Hope Love Fitness was made.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have had good days and hard days. Mostly pressure that I put on myself or fear that my business, something that I put my whole heart into will fail. To start a business at 44, especially in the fitness world is daunting. I do not look like a 24 years old Instagram fitness model. Will people want to work out in my home garage gym? Am I too old for this? Will clients come? All those questions were in my head. But, I realized that if I am myself, if I let folks know that I am just like them, if I can make them laugh and relate to them then we will do just fine. That graduate degree in Psychology comes in handy. I always say that if your mind is healthy, your body is and vice versa. So we focus on more than just building muscle, we focus on everything. Sleep, self-care, speaking highly another yourself and so forth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is a small women-owned personal training and fitness company. I offer group classes, private training at my home gym or your home. I hold small group lessons with a group of your choice as well. I offer and am certified in Barre, Spin, TRX, Senior, as well as Boot camps, Strength Training and Cardiovascular work. I am a real-life trainer who focuses on each individual and their needs. I pride myself on keeping my clients safe while getting results.

I also feel like having fun and laughing are essential especially in today’s world. We will have fun and if we have to stop for a minute to laugh then I know I am doing a good job.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My support system has made my business work. I have always said I don’t know how I am so lucky to have the community I have. My family has made changes and stepped up to help and they are so positive it is hard to have a hard day. My clients, who become my friends, are the ones who make this happen by spreading the word. I look forward to seeing them everyday and even though that alarm wakes me up at 5:30 am I am happy to get up and go to work.
