Community Highlights: Meet Valeria Moreno and Christopher Rivera of CV Capital Investment Group LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valeria Moreno and Christopher Rivera

Hi Valeria & Christopher, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The Beginning of Capital Investment Group

When Chris and I started dating in 2018, we never imagined that our journey together would lead us to build something as impactful as Capital Investment Group. From high school sweethearts to business partners, our shared passion for real estate became the foundation of a company dedicated to helping others create wealth through property investments.

In 2020, I decided to get my real estate license and encouraged Chris to do the same. However, as I started taking the classes, I quickly realized that being a real estate agent wasn’t for me. Chris, on the other hand, followed through and earned his license that same year. While he explored real estate opportunities, I took a job with an interior design company in Orlando specializing in short-term rentals. At the time, Chris was working as an accountant, but he knew that his true passion lay in real estate—he just wasn’t sure in what capacity.

By the end of 2020, we started looking into short-term rentals as a potential business venture. Chris eventually left his accounting job to pursue real estate full-time, but he soon discovered that selling homes wasn’t the right path for him either. He didn’t enjoy chasing clients to close deals; instead, he was drawn to the idea of being an investor—someone who builds long-term wealth through real estate rather than just selling properties.

Chris’s first break came when he landed a job as a leasing agent for a company that focused on long-term rentals. This role gave him hands-on experience managing properties and dealing with tenants, helping us better understand how rental investments worked. Not long after, I was given an opportunity within the same company to help launch a new short-term rental division. Chris eventually became the president of the short-term rental division, while I worked alongside a team decorating and furnishing over 14 rental units.

With each step, our vision became clearer. In 2022, we officially launched Capital Investment Group LLC, our real estate investment company. We didn’t just want to manage properties—we wanted to help others achieve financial freedom through real estate. Our company specialized in long-term rentals, short-term rentals, and mid-term rentals, allowing us to create multiple investment opportunities for our clients.

In early 2024, we purchased our first investment property—not a short-term rental, but a long-term rental venture that aligned with our strategy. Later that year, we acquired our second property, a multifamily home, marking a significant milestone in our journey as real estate investors.

From high school sweethearts to life partners, and now business partners, Chris and I have built something that is more than just a company. Capital Investment Group is a reflection of our journey, our hard work, and our belief in real estate as a tool for financial freedom.

And this is just the beginning.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting Capital Investment Group was not an easy road. In the beginning, one of the biggest challenges we faced was our lack of knowledge about the formalities of running a real estate investment business. While we had the drive and passion, we didn’t yet have the experience to navigate the complexities of property management, investment strategies, or structuring a company for long-term success.

Things began to change when we had the opportunity to work with experienced professionals and mentors. Their guidance helped us overcome the initial learning curve, but new challenges quickly arose. One of the most difficult aspects of this journey has been balancing our roles as both business partners and a married couple.

Working together every day while also maintaining a strong personal relationship is a unique challenge. When your business partner is also your life partner, the lines between work and home can easily blur. There were times when business discussions crept into our personal lives, and finding the right balance was something we had to learn along the way. We came to realize that our marriage and our business are two separate entities, and they need to be treated as such. Keeping them distinct and respecting those boundaries has been essential for both our relationship and our company’s success.

Beyond that, we’ve had to learn through mistakes. However, we don’t see these moments as failures; instead, they are valuable learning experiences that have made us stronger, both as individuals and as business owners. Every obstacle we faced became an opportunity to refine our approach, improve our systems, and create a better experience for our clients and investors.

Ultimately, the hardships we endured helped shape Capital Investment Group into what it is today. By facing these challenges head-on, we’ve not only built a business—we’ve created a company that is better prepared to guide others through their own real estate investment journeys. We’ve already navigated the tough times so that our clients don’t have to.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
