Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Spring.
Hi Anastasia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started painted furniture over eight years ago when I was pregnant with my first son. We didn’t have a lot of money to purchase new furniture set for the nursery, so we got three pieces of solid wood set for couple hundred bucks. I was so happy with the results, I was addicted to painting furniture since! I was scouting thrift stores for quality wood pieces that were out of style and upcycling them to fit in a modern home.
As demand increased, I’ve become a retailer for a line of paint and started teaching people how to paint their own furniture. The best part about it was saving great quality pieces from landfills, one piece at a time. Just think how many trees can be saved by simply repurposing what we already have in abundance! Plus, this is a great creative outlet for any skill level!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any small business, there are always certain difficulties along the way. There are people that don’t understand how much work goes into painting furniture. You don’t just open a can and slap some paint on their prep work, certain techniques for different finishes, cost of products, and the fact that I search, then haul, then clean, sand, paint, invest in advertising. There are people that will shame you for painting antiques. I don’t touch antiques in excellent condition. I choose to save the ones that nobody wants in the condition they are in. But if a customer wants to paint their heirloom to bring it up to date and fit their current decor, I think it’s their choice and everyone should respect that.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I paint furniture to sell and do custom work. I am a retailer for Wise Owl Chalk Synthesis Paint, which is women owned, made in Michigan and created by an environmental scientist. It is not harmful not only for people but for our planet also. I’ve been educating people about the use of Chalk paint for multiple DIY projects in your house, from the kitchen, furniture to vases and frames. I paint on canvas too and have been studying art at a local art studio and had the best teacher who is very well known in the Orlando art scene. I’m proud of my experience and skill and that i take pride in my work. I offer one of a kind pieces of interior decor and open to many styles. I do love a challenge, so when customers have a bold idea in mind, I get really excited. I combine my technical skills with my creative side to come up with something that is one of a kind and functional at the same time.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
You have to believe in yourself and what you do, never stop learning about your trade, perfect your skills daily and have an open mind. Be open to criticism, but never let people bring you down just because they don’t share the same esthetics.

Reading this article on Anastasia was a pleasant, happy surprise 🙂
I met her maybe five years ago, and I only remember the pride and joy she has always put into her creations. She would perfect every detail. She’s is a natural and gifted artist and teacher, and one of the most loveliest young ladies I have known. We still have a special piece she created for my daughter for graduation. Best gift she received. I’m happy she has found her purpose and continued this journey because not everyone does. What an impressive portfolio. Is it okay to say how proud I am to see how much she has blossomed and grown into who she was born to be, a true artist. I’m always looking forward to what comes next.
