Conversations with Anne Niebch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Niebch.

Hi Anne, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I don’t really like being told what to do, ever. As a child, my mother described me as “fiercely independent.” Even though I had strong positive guidance in my youth, I grew up learning through the tough school of experience where I had to figure out for myself how to turn energy into productivity. This has given me the drive to have large goals and the passion to tackle what’s in front of me. I have been in the technology/higher education industry for 20+ years and have a challenging day job, working with an amazing team.

Although I have always enjoyed my work, a nagging thought has always kept me up at night… what could I do if I worked as hard for myself as I do for others? The restrictive lifestyle of the pandemic has been challenging for all of us. For me, I took advantage of the quiet and it opened up a wellspring of creativity that I never knew I had. I bought a bunch of seeds and planted a garden in my back-yard. When they began to bloom, I started to dry and preserve these beautiful flowers in resin-based jewelry, bookmarks, and other fun odds and ends. Each of these small successes grew into a love for preserving much larger flowers and bouquets. It brings me great joy to work with flowers and preserve them as a keepsake for many years to come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is anyone’s road perfectly smooth? Nope. As I began this new venture, the logical part of my mind constantly threw up stumbling blocks by pointing out that my pieces may not appear perfect; that no one would want them; that I was wasting my time with a hobby that was distracting me from “real” work. However, I soon recognized that these thoughts were then, and still are, based in fear of the unknown and that the more I enjoy and nurture this new creativity, the more I am restored and refocused by this artistic path.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a floral resin preservationist/artist. I love nature and as a botanical artist, I’m able to capture the beauty of nature to be enjoyed for a lifetime. In addition to preserving wedding and/or celebration florals, I can preserve flowers from a memorial, historical event, or even from your own garden for your own enjoyment or as a gift to a friend or loved one. I have a full-time job, three amazing kids, a wonderful husband, and teach yoga on the side. Although I have had my share of obstacles to overcome.

I am most proud of discovering a pathway that has minimized the effects of this crazy time. This narrow path has been a gift that has steadily widened and allowed me to bring joy to others as well as to my own soul. My artistry opens the door for me to encourage others to treasure memories or to find the threads of beauty and hope they are woven into every setback. In this field, there are some amazing floral resin artists offering products with their own unique quality and point of view. What sets me apart is that I can use customer-provided florals exclusively or incorporate my own home-grown flowers to create works of art from various sources. I love doing this and am willing to devote the dedication and energy it takes to edit and create each piece. I trust that this personal investment will accompany each finished product and bring love, joy, and peace into the life of the owner.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I can be reached through my website (www.mindfultreeart.com), Instagram (@mindfultreeart), Facebook (Mindfultreeart), or through direct email (mindfultreeart@gmail.com). Since most of my work is custom, I can create solely from my own artistry or work with you by developing ideas from other inspirations as a springboard for something uniquely yours. It would be an honor to create personalized artwork for you! Lastly, if my story has touched you and you see or know of something that you think would help continue my artistic growth, please don’t hesitate to share for that is how we support each other along this uncharted journey. Together, we rise!
