Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Jansik.
Hi Kasey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Weddings by Kasey started as a part-time job that I decided to do in addition to my Full-Time job in the theme park industry. I decided that it was something that I loved to do that, for the most part, people did not love and I wanted to be a part of bringing that peace of mind to couples about their special day that I valued on my own wedding day. I set out to learn more about the industry locally and found my spot as a wedding planner for my own business under my own name and went for it and I have not looked back since. I’ve been providing couples with a personalized and fun wedding planning experience since 2016.
In March of 2020, I had my son and was weary of doing a full-time job, being a mom, and doing weddings on the side of that and knew that in some time, I would love to be doing weddings full time instead. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was, unfortunately, one of the many hospitality workers that were laid off. Since my lay off in September of 2020, I have taken this full business time and I have not been happier to have this opportunity to pivot into my new role as Full-Time owner and lead planner of Weddings by Kasey.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think every business has its ups and downs. My absolute biggest hurdle was when I was juggling maternity leave and my couples that were having to reschedule their wedding dates. I was able to get a lot of help with my son, thankfully, so I was able to give my couples the attention and quality of service that they deserved in that stressful time. It was not easy but I credit the changes due to COVID-19 as the reason that I am the business owner that I am today. So many small businesses were affected and learned so much through it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My business provides wedding planning and coordinating services to Central Florida couples. I specialize in making your wedding day absolutely all your own and pride myself on helping couples create a wedding day that is completely theirs. I feel as though personalized details are the thing that elevates your wedding day from a cookie-cutter everyday wedding to one that your guests will remember as YOUR day. At a service level, I not only strive to make my couples feel absolutely special, I strive to make them feel like they are the only couple I am helping. On the back end, I work to create a great experience for a couple of vendors as well. I have in-depth conversations with them to ensure they have the tools that they need in order to be successful and always cultivate a sense of being a team because overall, we are all one team trying to make the couples’ day perfect.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice to anyone attempting to grow or break into this industry is to be resilient. Don’t be afraid to ask to connect with people you admire and do not be discouraged if their answer is “no.” You will find a network of people that will quickly feel like your work family and you will be happy to have been brave enough to just ask. I know that I have heard, and continue to hear, no from people and it does not do well to dwell on it or allow it to hurt your feelings. Without asking, I would have never met some of the incredible people I know and work with today.
