Conversations with Sche Sanders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sche Sanders.

Hi Sche, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
“Writing has always been my thing.” Says Porsche “Sche” Sanders, a Tampa native who started writing poetry at the age of eight. More popularly known as “Sche the Poetess,” her style is simple and relevant yet powerful as she encourages positive self-image and awareness. She enjoys creating pieces that are relatable and paints pictures of everyday struggles and experiences of the young and ambitious. She draws most of her inspiration from music inspired by artists like Jill Scott, Beyoncé, Wale and the late great, Tupac.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a young woman, I struggled with figuring out who I was. Writing allowed me to play out all areas of my life and create the story I desired.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a writer and poet who has the gift of creating safe spaces for readers and listeners through spoken word and storytelling, allowing them to see the light within themselves and ultimately illuminating those around them. I am most proud of my work in the RISE mural project located in Eatonville, FL.

What does success mean to you?
Success is looking in the mirror every day and being satisfied with yourself.
