Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Delgadillo.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in San Francisco, California, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. I was a classically trained dancer my entire life before finding an interest in photography during high school. I decided to attend college at Parsons School of Design in New York City where I continued to pursue a BFA in photography and work with actors in the Broadway industry as well as dancers around the country. After I graduated in 2020, I moved to Los Angeles where I was hired by Break the Floor Productions to tour with them and photograph their competitions. I have been traveling all around the United States for the last 8 months creating content for their events, including the renowned Dance Awards in Orlando and Las Vegas. I feel very grateful to do what I love and have it all tie back to my roots simultaneously.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. Mental health can be extremely toxic and consuming towards oneself and requires a great deal of patience. Graduating from the pandemic left me in a really confusing spot in my life. My sense of purpose was undefined, and it took a lot of courage to step up and decide to change my scenery and actually make a difference in my life. I realized that New York, while I will always love it, was not ultimately for me full-time. I do believe that everything happens for a reason and that our gut feelings are guardian angels. Our intuition often knows our path before our conscious mind does.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional photographer that specializes in dance and portraiture. I am currently touring around the United States with Break the Floor Productions where I photograph their competitions and events. When I was living in NYC, I was known for my editorial work for actors in the Broadway community, such as Renee Rapp, Eva Noble Zada, etc. I am proud of myself for sticking to my passion and not losing sight of what it is that I’ve always wanted to pursue, which is photography.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Orlando offers an array of incredible opportunities to artists. I find that to be the most intriguing. It’s diverse in culture and has several little pockets throughout the city where something fun and exciting is happening. It’s a city about having fun and enjoying yourself, which is why I’m so drawn to it.
