Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Koziel.
Hi Amy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
“I went to college to learn how to plan parties…”. Actually, no. I started my journey attending the University of North Florida to pursue Psychology, which within the last semester of my senior year I realized: Just. Wasn’t. Working. So! I then changed my major to extend my college journey by another 2 years (sorry Mom & Dad) and pursued Communications and Public Relations where I learned…how to plan a party!
After spending a couple of months working as an intern at MOCA Jacksonville where a permanent position was not currently available, I changed my path again and fell into the world of Risk Management. 15 years and counting, from Florida to Alaska, to Grand Canyon National Park, and back to Florida several times over.
However, through all those moves and life changes, throwing gatherings has always been my passion and stayed a solid constant for me in my life. So! I have begun to share my passion with others!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Breaking away from the Risk Management world to pursue throwing glittering gatherings for others has been tricky.
I’ve grown to love both of my career paths and passions and am still balancing the two.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I absolutely love taking the stress of planning out of the process for others. I pride myself on being able to gather what people are looking for and bring it to life with small touches that pack a lot of “glitter!”
Whether it’s planning and prepping for birthdays, graduations, baby or bridal showers, virtual showers and events, brunches, themed tablescapes, a balloon display, or plating a table display of food, appetizers, or desserts – it’s ALL meant to glitter! I can help with any and all parts of the planning process.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and are any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
During COVID-19 I learned that people loved the concept of “virtual parties.” I made a lot of virtual party boxes to ship out to attendees for baby showers and other parties that were a great hit!
