Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Boscana
Hi Brittney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
For over a decade, I was deeply immersed in the world of hair and makeup. It was a career I had built with passion and dedication, but it also demanded everything from me—early mornings, every single weekend, and a schedule booked out a year in advance. I loved my clients and the artistry, but I was exhausted, constantly running on fumes. As a single mom, walking away from guaranteed income felt impossible. I knew I wanted out, but fear kept me rooted in place.
Then, COVID hit.
Suddenly, my packed schedule was wiped clean. Weddings were postponed indefinitely, and even though my contracts were solid—I legally didn’t have to return deposits—I couldn’t stomach keeping money for events that might never happen. Brides were scrambling to reschedule, but so many vendors, including myself, couldn’t guarantee availability for their new dates. I made the difficult choice to refund their payments, taking a massive financial hit in the process.
That was my wake-up call. It was time for a change.
I threw myself into a one-week crash course in real estate. It was intense, overwhelming, and absolutely terrifying. But I pushed through, got licensed, and stepped into an industry where I had no guarantees—just the belief that I could make it work.
Now, five years later, I look back at that leap of faith and know it was the best decision I ever made. Real estate has given me the freedom and flexibility I never had before. I get to help people navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives, build relationships in my community, and I’m creating a life I love!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a struggle! Starting over in a career I knew nothing about was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. In the hair and makeup industry, I was confident—there was nothing I couldn’t do. Shifting into real estate felt like stepping into a completely different world where I knew absolutely nothing.
My first transaction was a disaster waiting to happen. I had no clue what a title companies did, how lending worked, or even the timeline for closing. I was thrown into the deep end, and the people around me—who had been in the business for years—just assumed I knew what they knew. I didn’t. And when my deal started going south, I had no idea why. Crash course in real estate? That’s an understatement.
But I refused to sink. I sat down with title reps and lenders, asked a million questions, and soaked up every piece of information I could. Thank goodness for them!
Then came the turning point—Lake Quest.
I wanted to carve out my own space in this industry, so I created a boating scavenger hunt on the Harris Chain of Lakes. Everyone (except for my mom and one person who became my biggest ally and later the reason I switched brokerages) thought I was crazy. “How does this relate to real estate?” they asked. But I knew from my background as an entrepreneur that the key to success wasn’t just selling—it was building community and relationships.
Now, four years later, Lake Quest is a huge success, and it’s been a game-changer for my business. Looking back, I’m grateful for every struggle because it forced me to think outside the box, trust myself, and create something truly unique.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Real estate is more than just buying and selling homes—it’s about marketing, strategy, and lifestyle. My background in marketing has allowed me to build a business centered around creative, out-of-the-box ideas that get results. I don’t just list homes; I showcase the lifestyle they offer, whether it’s a charming downtown property with walkable amenities or a waterfront retreat for boaters and fishing enthusiasts.
When working with sellers, I focus on positioning their home in a way that attracts the right buyers. Every home has a story, and my job is to market it in a way that makes it stand out—through strategic pricing, compelling visuals, and targeted marketing that reaches buyers who will truly appreciate what the home has to offer.
For buyers, I take the time to understand their lifestyle and what they truly want in a home. It’s not just about square footage and number of bedrooms; it’s about finding a place that fits their daily life, their hobbies, and their future goals. Whether they want to be close to the action in town or wake up to lakefront views, I help them find a home that enhances their life, not just a property that checks boxes.
I’m most proud of how I’ve built my business through creative marketing and community engagement. One of my favorite projects is Lake Quest, a boating scavenger hunt on the Harris Chain of Lakes that I created to bring people together while also showcasing the incredible lifestyle this area offers. It’s been a huge success and has helped me connect with so many people in a meaningful way. In fact thanks to this event I won The Good Neighbor Award from the Realtors Association of Lake & Sumter Counties!
What sets me apart is my ability to blend strategic marketing with a personalized, hands-on approach. I don’t just facilitate transactions—I guide my clients through one of the biggest decisions of their lives, making sure they feel confident every step of the way. My goal is always to provide value, create lasting relationships, and help people find not just a house, but a home and a lifestyle they love.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Absolutely! I used to think the wedding industry was indestructible—people will always get married and invest in looking their best, right? I was so wrong. The pandemic shut everything down, and I suddenly found myself in a position I never expected. It was a harsh reminder that nothing is guaranteed, no matter how solid it seems.
That experience forced me to pivot, and pivot hard. It taught me to embrace uncertainty, adapt quickly, and not let fear control my decisions. Instead of letting it break me, I used it as fuel to rebuild in a new industry—one that I’ve come to love. Now, I carry that lesson with me in real estate: always be adaptable, stay open to change, and don’t be afraid to take risks. What once felt like a setback turned out to be the push I needed to build something even better.
