Today we’d like to introduce you to Camryn Rivers.
Hi Camryn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Big Bite started simply from a deep love of food and more importantly, a love for sharing it. I’ve always found joy in cooking for others, in seeing how a good meal can bring comfort, spark conversation, or just make someone’s day a little brighter. What began as small, home cooked meals shared with friends and neighbors slowly grew into something more. I started doing weekly Friday dinners togo, and the response from the community was heartwarming. With every plate, things got a little bigger, a little better and that growth came directly from the support and encouragement I received. People showed up, brought their friends, spread the word, and made Big Bite what it is today.
Eventually, I wanted to explore how food could be experienced in new, more immersive ways, so I launched the Film Tastings. That’s when things really clicked into place for me. It combined everything I love: cooking, creativity, and connection. I began curating menus to mirror some of my favorite films. We’d show the movie and serve each course in real time with the key scenes. It’s an experience that allows me to turn food into storytelling. People don’t just watch the film they taste it, too. Where I am now is really thanks to a community that embraces my crazy ideas and continues to show up with open minds and appetites.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been smooth. I’m very hard on myself, I care deeply about what I put out there, and in the beginning, I constantly worried that things wouldn’t be perfect. I’d stress over whether the dishes were good enough, whether the idea was too small, or if people would even care to show up. There were nights before events where I was up second-guessing everything, thinking it might not be enough.
But every time, the feedback was amazing. People were not only showing support, but actually connecting with the food, with each other, and with the experience. That’s what kept me going.
On the more practical side of things, there were definitely challenges with space, time, and doing it all on my own (aside from my amazing team behind the scenes). Timing a meal with a movie, creating that immersive feeling, and still making sure the food hit right? It took a lot of trial and error. But over time, Big Bite found its rhythm and I learned that any misstep showed a better way forward.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At its heart, Big Bite is about creating connections with food that feel personal. Every Friday, I serve togo dinner plates that are made with care. Whether it’s someone who just didn’t have time to cook or saw the menu and was reminded of their favorite meal- I just want a dish for everyone that feels rooted in flavor and comfort. But what really sets Big Bite apart is the film tastings. It’s not just food paired with movies, it’s an entire experience built around them. Each course is served in real time with the film, and the menu is either pulled directly from the story or inspired by the atmosphere and characters. It turns a regular dinner-and-a-movie into something much more.
I’m most proud of what I put into Big Bite. I truly give it my all and spend majority of my time thinking of how to elevate the next dish or event. The moments when people tell me they will be coming back with their whole family, or that they got to fulfill a childhood dream eating a certain meal mean everything to me. I pour a lot of myself into every dish and every event, and I think people can feel that. It’s not about being the biggest; it’s about making people feel seen, nourished, and surprised in the best way.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There’s nothing I love more than supporting other small businesses and collaborating to help both of us grow. Whether it’s working together on an event or simply sharing ideas, I believe in the power of community and collaboration. I’ve worked with local businesses like Butcher’s Nook, Roots & Flora, and Cendejas Designs of Mount Dora as well as A Sprinkle of Sweetness of Leesburg to create the most authentic atmosphere for each Film Tasting, and I’m always looking for new ways to team up and create something special.
People can support Big Bite by showing up, spreading the word, and sharing a meal with someone new. Every follow, tag, or kind word makes a big difference.
