Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Mason.
Hi Candace, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Get to the point started out as an idea. Growing up I was always a competitor. Always fought my hardest to get the job done! Tomboy to say the less. I found out I was interested in piercings as a teenager when I decided to pierce my own ears. I had no clue what I was doing and took myself through the worst 2 hours of pain that I ever imagined. Through all the pain and torture, I pierced my own ears. Lol! Fast forward growing up into my early 20s I started piercing myself a lot and found interests in tattoos! Very frequently I took trips to different tattoo shops for more piercings and tattoos. Finally, one day I took a friend to get their nose pierced to a random tattoo shop. As I was talking my friend through his piercing and coaching him along the way to get pierced. I that day walked out with a job offer from the owner of the shop unexpectedly. The owner told me I had a natural gift for piercings and that he wanted to train and pay me to be a piercer. Needless to say, I took the offer, did my apprenticeship, and started piercing. One year in I took my skills and practiced day and night using myself as a mannequin! In 2020 I decided to branch out and open my own tattoo shop. I hired artist after artist which all lead to horrible results. As a new business owner, I had no clue on what I was doing. I lasted for a year and a half and decided to close. This year I decided to branch back out but this time with a business plan and a goal! Not only to provide quality piercings but for everyone to get to the point and hit their target… Most time as women and /or men we feel the need to prove to the world we aren’t as broken as we are. We also tend to break more along the way proving that point. (When we are indeed broken) My mission statement at Get to the Point is to come broken, but we fight to heal! What is for you is for you! Whether you are broken, hurt, lost, confused or fighting!!! Everything always has a point(purpose)! Get to the point and hit your target! #Ms Get to the Point
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
All roads have not been smooth. I tried, I failed. I lost. But I tried again!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I worked in the healthcare field all my life. Over twelve years in a laboratory at a hospital or working independently as a phlebotomist and/or lab tech. So, needles and poking people came natural for me.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see my brand expanding and giving others an opportunity to do what they love and love what they do!
