Conversations with Chill Pittman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chill Pittman.

Hi Chill, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started as a young kid with a love for music, following in my parent’s footsteps. Received a drum set at the age of four and mimicked songs from the radio, tv, and also made my own rhythms and songs. By high school, I was producing tracks with friends and clients as well as running sessions and doing rap features for my father’s artists at DoodleTown Studios in Los Angeles. Since then, I’ve released a couple of albums, been a part of a few talented groups and opened for some major acts including Twista, Gangstarr and Omarion. Now, releasing work as a solo artist and producer, completing my next project and submitting Instrumentals for TV and film placement.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There have been many struggles, lessons and learning opportunities along the way. Working with people who don’t share the same passion is one of the biggest time consumers of all. Understanding ways to invest in your brand that will be beneficial in the long run and knowing whether you want to be signed or independent.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As an Artist and Producer, I have an understanding and appreciation for different genres of music and expression. I truly consider all of them whenever I write or create a track from scratch, trying to see how I can mold all of these feels into an overall vibe. In a way, I try to allow all songs their own identity while still bearing a signature that still hints that it’s a ChillFactor Production.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck much. What’s for you is for you and I believe you’re supposed to just put your head down, do the work, thank Yah for every breath and opportunity to do so, and most of all, be yourself. Not a remake of someone who has made it.
